I did a little search and didn't find anything, this is a groovy show check it out!
It's on Discovery HD Theater, not Discovery HD.

I saw the ad and I was trying to find it to DVR and it isn't listed. At least under Cafe Racer. Really wanted to check it out. Guessing I don't get the channel

So I watched it and I got to say, if you’re into this culture it has some good history for you to learn. They had some very good bikes to show off as well. They even rode the new Nortons. Only thing I have to say is it should be an hour show NOT 30min. They showed off a bike and it seemed like it was just rushed. I wanted to see more on the fabrication and design of the bike. Dim City Motor made a gorgeous Café CB450 from a junk yard find.

I'm bumpin' this thread once more. Mainly because this show is proving to be better than I expected. Part history, part current guys building beautiful retro racers out of forgotten, boring, '80's snoremobiles. The $200 dollar CX-500 Honda they're building speaks to me. It fully has a 'Guzzi cafe look. If you haven't seen it, you should.

My Aunt has a CX500 with a big sissy bar and a windsheild on it. After seeing what they are doing to the one on the show, I can't help but want that bike so I can chop it up!

Now that Fox and Dish Network have made up, the HDTheatre channel is no longer provided without paying extra. That is unfortunate as the Cafe Racer series was an interesting program.

I didn't lose it. I have their HD only package for approximately $35 per month after fees and taxes. That's with Dish Network. I am still unhappy about losing all Disney channels because that was one of the few I could leave my kids watching and not worry much about the programming.

Saw pics of the finished bike on their web site. It looks more streetfighter than cafe racer. Really dig cafe racers. Wish they would have went more in that direction with their build.

Watching this as well since I was working on a cafe fighter with my last 1981 cb750. I was going to put modern usd forks from a zx9, had hot rodded cams, big bore, cr29 with velocity stacks, the works. Was working on it for about two years before I sold the project and got my 919 instead. A lot of the work I see these guys do is amazing, but some is just dumb too. That cb450f looked badass. The guy with a red bonneville? That was dumb.

I always thought of the 919 as sort of a cafe fighter of our times stock...unappreciated at most but still has some retro with the analog gauges and big round headlight.

Watching that show brings back memories...
Some day ill continue the dream. Still got the forks and extra bits waiting for the right project to scream my name.

I may not have a lot to say but it doesn't mean I don't listen.

I watched that episode last night. He called the 9-19 styling dull......WTF?!?! I love the look of my 9-1-9!!! It was one of the main attractions for me! In fact I think he and the magazine editor that's on a lot both said the 9ner is a dull bike period. As you can see it twisted my panties a little. I love my bike and I am sure most of you on this site do too.

He also said something like "we chose the bike because it has been said that it can't be made to look good". Those weren't his exact words, but it was something to that effect.

yeah...

good looks must mean stretched, ugly fairing thing, clip ons with a bunch of chrome. I have no idea what the final bike looks like but im guessing thats his idea of good looks.

I may not have a lot to say but it doesn't mean I don't listen.

some people are too conventional in their tastes. they think because something isn't overtly flashy or intentionally spartan that it's "dullish". It's hard for them to see the beauty in a well balanced machine. the 919 is more go to than look at, which is just fine for me. Still, it will be interesting to see what they finally came up with.

In my opinion that shops bikes look like CRAP. His idea of a "good looking" 919 is an abortion. I think somebody said it here earlier. Once all the jackass "Custom cafe" builders jump on the bandwagon the market will be saturated with shit.

I'm almost digging the spoke wheels, but the rest looks like doody wrapped around perfectly good motor and hacked frame. Looks like they went to the trouble to modify the rake angle and install custom triples but didn't even upgrade the suspension.

I didn't like the end result of the 9-19 project, but some of the other bikes featured on earlier episodes have turned out really nice.
I'm glad there are no choppers, no stretched sportbikes, and no drama on this show.

Another gear head show with fake deadlines or fake drama will make my head explode. I agree, I've really liked most of the bikes. The 919, not so much.

Man I wish I had HD theater. I love cafe bikes. Between cafe and streettrackers i can't decide which is the coolest to me.
I have an 81 xs850 that was suposed to turn into a cafe bike. So far it has turned into a bit of a garage ornament.
I think I'd most like to build a cafe bike from an older XL HD. yea, I know, an HD. It is winter time, maybe hell is freezing over.

So, did anyone check out the latest episode with the test ride of the 919 cafefighterabomination? If not, I don't want to spoil it, but apparently being flat out ass ugly isn't that things only problem. I'm fairly certain the test riders won't be test riding anymore of that guys bikes any time soon.

I felt bad for the test rider. But then laughed my ass off at the dumbass who built the thing. Probably should have done some more testing of the thing himself before he just gave it to a pro rider. What an Idiot. I don't think he rode the thing more than around the block, just to make sure it started and stopped, and then he loaded it up on the trailer and delivered it to them.
