Unhappy Bridgehampton Race Track

I had a chance to visit the once popular Bridgehampton, New York racetrack known as 'The Bridge'.

It was sold off to developers who proceeded to build a high end private golf club who coincidently name it 'The Bridge'. A portion of the back straight and the original bridge was left intact to go along with the club's racing theme. Membership fees are $500,50.00 per person, yup that is no typo.

Here are few recent photos of this once famous track.

How cool would it be to use the track as part of the fairway. Bounce your ball all the way down the back straight for about 600 yards or so, and into the hole.

Spend a lot of weekends at that track. Hamburgers falling off of the hibachi into the sand... then serving it to a friend. Ahhh, memories. They should have the golf course and the track open at the same time.

I must say that I am a true fan of golf but this seams a little over the top. I have seen a trend developing here in WI where golf courses seem to be selling themselves off. At least a nine to make room for condos or homesites which is more profitable. There is no denying that there are many more golf courses than are demanded. I do not belive this to be true with road courses. With the few tracks we have in this area many people I know are ready to develop thier own. Seeing the demand for track time from riders like us to car clubs etc. I could see more profitability in having a well managed racing, training facility. Sad to see another one go.

...so the track is part paved and part off-road...sounds like a motard kind of place...the golfer's shouldn't mind...
