Bike Gawking

I brought some garbage out to the garage and got distracted by my bike. I decided to pull out a lawn chair and sat down admiring it. Since I was a little kid staring at my bike I have enjoyed just admiring my stuff, planning mods, etc.

I don't bike gawk that much, but I really like my bike right now, especially with my mods this year.

So I'm sitting there admiring the 919, just like Bobby does when his wife (who owns the bike) isn't home and my wife comes out and asks me what I'm doing. She was looking at me like I am some kinda weirdo. I explain what I wrote above and say it's a guy thing. She still doesn't get it.

Is there a bike-gawkers anonymous group that I can join? Apparently I need help.

With something so sexy as a 919 one can not help but sit and stare.

I guess I fall into this group! With temps well over 100deg the past 30+ day in a row here in Southwestern Oklahoma that is all I have done lately. Sure is one sexy looking Bike to me!

What do you think i've been seeing in san antonio? Atleast 5 times a week I'm out riding for a couple of hours. I'd rather admire my bike from on top of it, even then it's not about aesthetics, but the ride itself. Yeah, one day you'll spot me on the worlds most comfortable rat bike but I can live with that.

if you love your motorcycle, set it free.. if it comes back and hits you.. you highsided

I didn't say I am not riding, its just that the rides are pretty short as the bike and me get heat soaked pretty quick. I am not a youngster anymore (56) and if it don't feel good I stop. Back to the bikes looks...it seems most that have been produced since the niner have a look I don't care for. Sort of a "Transformer" look. Wild headlights (beaks) and angles that all seem to converge at some point just in front of the front wheel. I guess I am just showing my age here. When I bought the 919 I was actually looking for a Cafe Racer type of bike but the 919 had a nice blend of high tech and old school.

Every time I take my 350Z out, I walk about 20 feet from it, turn around, then tell my wife "wow, that is one damn good looking car." I do this about 2 or 3 times everytime I take it out.

She loves it =)

I do it with the 919 mostly in a weird way, like, such a cool *different* looking bike.

With the GSX-R1000 I just look towards it then get on it as fast as I can so I can treat it like I hate it. No time to think about it, just need to ride it like a raging bull.

Took the windscreen off today and went out tonight and had unprotected sex with mine.

I do the same thing. With my car too. That's how I know I made the right choice.
Also do the look back when I park somewhere too.

I always step back and take an admiring look at her before I get on or if I walk by. Sometimes, in the winter, I even make a promise to take her out on the next good weather day. I always talk to her.

I keep mine out back under a canopy on our patio, and my wife catches me smiling every time I look at it. Maybe the newness just hasn't worn off yet, but I know just how you guys feel.

I leave through the garage to apologize to her when I have to take the car. There are easier ways to the driveway.....

your not showing your age I am only 25 and have the same opinion on looks. it's like every one decided after the success of the transformers movie they had to make everything look like a transformer. I'm frankly sick of it.

Common sense. So rare it's a god damn super power.

Yep. I do that too. When I get to work I take off my helmet and just stand and look at it for a few minutes before going in. At home. I walk around it and lean down to look at it from different angles.

I think the B-King was in Transformers 2. I like it.

I don't mind any sort of styling; classic, retro or cutting edge / modern. As long as it works and the styling is carried through from front to end in a thoughtfull, tastefull manner and proportionality is adhered to. A lot of times the front end looks fantastic only to have a rear looking like the rear end of a baboon.

Seems like every time I walk by my bike, I can't help but admire the clean lines and beautiful, simple styling. I always turn to my wife and tell her, "Man, that's a great lookin bike!" Yup, I'm a helpless gawker...
