Avoid Consignment Shops!

ConsignmentRipOff

They use to have a huge variety of used bikes on consignment... turns out they never paid for some! Their sales strategy of listing minimum monthly payments surely exploited desperate Johnny Paychecks that couldn't even afford safety gear. They were ripping off folks on both sides of the deal. Good riddance!

Seriously? This guy was actually that stupid? He thought he could sell a bike on consignment and the owner wouldn't come looking for the money? Let all the people he ripped off go through all his stuff and take what they want. Case closed.

I picked up my 919 from a dealer who had it on consignment for the owner. I talked to the owner before I even went to look at the bike and talked to him a few times after.

I agree with FlyCatcher.

I thought it was funny he passed some bad checks when the owners demanded money, but then came up with 30g's for bail... Then I remembered the bail bond guy. Something like 10% with collateral or some such.

Good Idea!

His overhead was low rent and only paid on bikes that sold, without the Dealer's high flooring expense and he still messed it up?!

No kidding, he should never had written the rubber checks. He should have been honest and put folks on a payment plan, as he did to those buying "his" bikes with 25% interest!

The irony is this used bike seller has worse legal problems from ripping off 30 folks for chump change, than an unscrupulous Dealer that goes debt-red and doesn't pay the MFG/suppliers for waaaaay more dough!
