919 vs. 600rr

Which bike is easier to ride aggresively in the twisties, 919's or 600 supersports? I mean, would the 919 be more dangerous (heavier weight, lower spec suspension and brakes, etc..) and easier to get you in trouble than a 600?

When you up the pace, the 600RR comes into the zone it was designed to be in. The 919 is moving out of it's comfort zone.

I guess if you were really bonkers, you could hi-side a 6. I've had a lot of fun on the 919, but the 600 is easier to go fast on. The fact that the 6 is probably 50+ pounds lighter than the 919, is a confidence booster.

its hard to compare the two bikes. they arent in the same class in any aspect really. if your going to do 90% twisties, get the rr. if you plan to do alot of general riding ie twisties, a little touring, some around town, commuting, you cant beat the 919 as a great all around machine

I don't think it is fair to compare those two. I can see 919 vs fz6/fz1.
It's like comparing ac130 vs boeing 747. They build for different purpose

You will be faster on what you are most comfortable on.

The 919 is forgiving, the RR is not.
The 919 is comfy, the RR is not.
The 919 allows you to use one gear for most siuations, the RR does not.

The RR reacts immediately to input, the 919 does not.
The RR has insane brakes, the 919 does not.
The RR which switch directions in an instant, the 919 will not.

I think the 919 is way easier for the average rider to go fast on. The RR is amazing in the corners, the 'average' rider sucks in a corner - so that nullifies its advantage.

Many people think they are faster on a sportbike, but it is often not so.

I was actaully faster on public streets with my 06 Tiger than my RC51/R1/600RR.
The riding position had me upright so I could be more aware of my surroundings and the suspension would absorb bumps better than you find on most roads.

Confidence = speed.

To me the RR is more confidence inspiring than the 919 in the turns. It stops better, it turns better, if you know how to keep the RPM's up it goes better. And since confidence = Speed... I am quite sure that I am faster on the RR I put 100 miles on than the 919 I put 20,000 miles on...

But the RR is not good for anything but the twisties (or the track) and you will have a much easier time getting the ladies to ride with you on a 919 than a torture rack RR

I agree with most of what Bloaker says.

But I don't understand how or why a 600RR is less forgiving than a 919. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just dont understand. I have both, and get along just fine with both. Maybe I never sin....

Comfort: My 600RR with HeliBars and it's nice suspention, to me, is more comfortable than my 919. The 6 is narrower, which is what I like, even there is a bit less leg room. If I could get another 1 1/2" legroom on my 6, it's be perfect. Also, I'm not glued to the seat. I stand up every once in a while.

919 brakes with SS lines are pretty darn good. The 600s are just a little better.

I like em both, but the ol 919 is parked, and the newish 600RR is on deck.

Rework the suspension on 919 and it will be the other way around.

Fair question...

I have a decent amount of seat time on both bikes...
Having owned the RR for 6 months - Road riding and trakcing it.
Having 'babysat' a 919 for too long - Road riding only.

The RR is less forgiving to poor input. If you over-brake, the bike is more likely to 'buck' or react negatively than the 919. The 919 gives notice to the bad input and seem to leave more time to correct before the result is incorrectable.

Same with even 'sneazing' on the bike. This action is not going to cause a crash by any means... but your better be more careful to not allow any reaction head to the bars... the RR will react far more drasticly than the nuetral 919.

By design, the RR is razor sharp. And depending on its usage... this is a good/bad thing.

This got me interested: How would the 919 compare against the FZ6??? I know the yammie is down on power, how about handling, braking, etc???

FZ6s are all over craigslist for good prices, how bout a 06 with 775 miles for 3995 sound?

Would i be downgrading if i sold the 9'er and got an FZ6?
