20,000 miles, 1 rider, 16 months...

Yup, the Tiger Turned 20000 miles today on our way home from Raleigh.
On the way home, I was smiling and thinking about the life of this bike.
I came up with this...

Bought in late April of 06.
two week later I high sided my RC51 at VIR and broke my collar bone; the bike sat for 6 weeks untouched.
June, I start riding motorcycles again. Still in pain (for those that saw the x-rays, you know why), I continued riding the bike.
Added accessories... (over time I got...)
1) higher windshield
2) Gel seat
3) Center Stand (third best mod)
4) Throttle Meister (fourth best mod)
5) Givi Top Case (second best mod)
6) GPS
7) Heated grips (best mod)

The bike has been through 1 hurricane, 2 thunder storms that have killed several people, and several 105+ degree 100 mile+ trips. Never an issue with weather, this is the bike I would choose if i need to go back into foul weather

The bike has been stuck in the mud, dropped on a dirt road (new paint job), taken two trips to Tampa from Virginia Beach and two trips to Atlanta. Countless trips to Raleigh and several more to Burlington NC.

The bike is now on its...
third front tire
fourth rear tire
second chain (original sprockets still look new)
4th oil change (mobil 1 synthetic)
second cush drive bearing

The 500 mile and 12000 mile service were done at the shop.

I would buy this bike again and again. This is the only bike I have owned I truly say this about.

At the price I see some of these used, pick one up. You will be amazed!

I forgot to add one jab in there....

Two other WTA members are maybe regretting the decision to sell?

Mucho congrats on the milemarker. I spoke at length today to another '06 Tiger owner. He lives in Hickory, NC. I promised to introduce him to you, as we talked quite a bit about your chenges to the forks w/ the fluids, and how much it improved. I did give him a flyer, so hopefully, he will find his way here.

Congrats again, and call me.

congratulations

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get it started."

He asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"

The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger."

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger."

He takes her hand and says, "Second, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then....." he sighed, "we'll put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box."

Nice commentary, Jim. A good feeling to have a bike you'd buy again. Congrats!

foul weather

maybe it is time to come up north for some special weather.
add to the mileage of your bike
Seriously as we head in to the end of august and beginning of september, it is a wonderful time to ride the back roads of upstate new york, vermont, and for those who are adventurous enough quebec.
the fall brings the changing leaves and seasons
cool temperaturew (perfect for agat)

alternately you can wait another 3 months and then real special weather can be yours. brrrrr.

if any of you decide to come up north let me know would be a pleasure to meet another wrist twister.

I have had some time in upstate New York. Forestberg, Monticello, Hawk's Nest, up to Peru, Plattsburg, etc...

I enjoyed it once I was there, however I did not enjoy getting there.

I do not see another "long trip" in my near future. Maybe one more shot at Florida on the Tiger before Christmas. Vacation time has been mostly reserved for Nicaragua.
