Trip to Highalnds,NC to see the Waterfalls on a 919..

Melody and I decided to make a run to Highlands this Sunday to see the falls.. She had never been, and this would
only be my 2nd time over in this area. Instead of going over the Cherohala, we went down 68 to 294 and came out
right below Murphy and rode 64 up to Franklin then on to Highlands.. It was georgeous Sunday.. But we hit rain early
Monday coming back. Later rode out of it, but was a cold ride back.. Heres some pics from our ride.

This first pic is Melody at a small falls (N35 11.384 W84 19.437) I spoted on Hwy 68 before Turtletown. It only has
a small pull off area, big enuff for just one car. Good spot to take a break if your headed down 68 south from Tellico.

Another pic of Melody and the small waterfall (N35 11.384 W84 19.437)

Didn't take any more pics until we got to Dry Falls near Highalnds,NC. Here is the first shot of dry falls
(N35 04.091 W83 14.326) from the trail that goes down to it. BTW the reason they call it dry falls is you can walk
underneath the falls and stay dry.

Here is a short video of the falls from the trail area. Best angle was to hold the camera upright. But I can't figure
out how to rotate the video for posting.. or just on my computer..

Just East of Dry Falls, is Bridel Veil Falls (N35 04.323 W83 13.760). You can actually drive underneath these falls.
Here is a pic of our 919 under nearth Bridel Veil Falls...

The original plan was to go up to Highlands after the falls and then back to Franklin for a cheaper rate room.
But ater we got to highlands we priced a room at the Highalnds Inn in downtown Highlands and got a nice room
for 99 dollars because it's still the off season right now. So we decided to stay in Highlands.. Heres a view
from our room overlooking downtown Highlands.

After getting settled in the room we went up to the Rib Shack Restaurant. This is up the hill from Highlands
Inn and is sorta on a backstreet. I recommend this place. They have a full bar and several big screens.
Very affordable compared to other restaurants in Highlands. You can get big angus burger and fries for like
8 bucks. But We got a steak, 20 bucks.. Draft pint of beer was 4 bucks..

After dinner came back to the room and Melody had a glass of wine...

I had a few cold Dos Equis Ambers ...

Here is a view of the inside of our room.. Which was #22 at Highalnds Inn.

Couple more shots of Meldoy and our room...

Also the breakfest was included in the room. Fixed whatever you wanted.. Eggs/Biscuits, fruits, etc.. After
Breakfest we got on the road, and hit light rain for a little ways.. I decided to take Wayah Road on way back
for a different route. Plus looked like we might avoid the rain if we went that way instead of back down 64.
This is good scenic road, but We hit rain somewhere in Middle of it. I dont really recommend it for sport bikes.
There's alot of loose gravel in the corners and the road is graded in places I guess for the winter time. So
had to take it real easy with the rain and road conditions.. After we got on 19 we stopped at the store at
129/19 , and it came a down pour.. So we waited it out for about an hour. And drove on back. Didn't really
get any pics since we left Highlands because of the rain, and after we got wet we were just ready to get home..
All in all a good ride! I love the roads around Highlands.. Love to go back when I have more time to explore more..

+1 I love the Melody pics.
The waterfalls ain't too bad either.
When the kids are bigger, I'll talk my Mrs into two-wheeled sight seeing.
