Touring abroad

Hello guys

Later this year summer time onwards my friend from Germany and I from the UK want to do a tour.

The brief plan is that we could meet in the Netherlands as that would be a half way point for the both of us.

We are thinking of heading towards the French alps and Toulon.

In total we'd probably travel for a week, set up a tent some nights here and there.

Any advice or anyone with experience who could share knowledge would be most appreciated

Thanks in advance

Davy, Where do you live? Are you planning to transport your bike overseas for this?
Best if luck, and have fun!

Well, fire the engines! Spur this iron space-pony on!

Hi and welcome! Sounds like you are going to have an awesome adventure. I would recommend computers and many cameras for sure. https://www.wristtwisters.com/f19/roa...9-a-32697.html

I'll get you some more helpful advice later but Ken would definitely be a good person to ask.

Hay Shadow

I study in canterbury and my home is in Brentwood, Essex
I was thinking there are two options
1) ferry from Dover
2) Euro Tunnel

From my limited experience with motorcycle touring I would recommend Anti Monkey Butt powder.

Canterbury, nice place.

Time = eurotunnel (not very much gain)
Money = ferry

I'd suggest ferry.

First thing ya do is . . . . . TAKE ME WITH YOU!

Here are some suggestions:

Get an Air Hawk cushion. It fits any bike. IMHO the best defense against the monkey butt.

Join a local rider forum or two. Pick the members' brains on weather, camping/lodging, good routes, eateries, etc. They will likely be quick to offer a couch and a wrench and to log a few miles with you too. The friendships you could make is like nothing else.

Make sure your gear is up to the task. Waterproof? Really waterproof? Thermal/electrics? Don't hesitate to drop some coin to upgrade any weak pieces. This could be the trip of a lifetime. Don't let it be ruined by cold or wet.

Don't overbook or try to take in too much, especially if you plan to camp. Camping cuts a couple of hours off your ride time each day. Plan a leisurely pace and savor the experience.

I'm green with envy - can't wait for the report.
