Todays ride in beautiful sunny so cal.

Well i got outta class and decided to go on a ride, as it was pretty nice out, slightly windy but nothing bad. And the fact that the next weeks its looking like weather is going to be rather nasty here in the ventura / whole southern region.

Anyways... i had no idea where i wanted to go, i just knew i wanted to start on decker and make my way to the rock store for a drink. But as far as those loose guidelines i was out for a ride.

So i ended up taking this route... a nice 120ish mi ride.

Santa Rosa Rd to Santa Rosa Rd - Google Maps

And i must say its one of the best rides i have been on... just went for a cruise as the canyon roads had dirt and debris littered all over them from the last rain a coupla days ago. So i went and took a buncha pics.

Top of Stunt road

Another from the top of stunt

The beast!

From the top of saddle peak road looking at LA / hollywood / santamonica.

A random look down some canyon

I then found this gem of a little road... a two way one lane road simply dubbed... "Tuna Canyon"

Looking down to the right of tuna canyon... kanan / point dume is way off in the distance

The two way one laner road of Tuna Canyon turned into a super gnarly narrow one lane one way road of awesomeness.

One of the wider sections of the road

I had so much fun on this road!

Then all the sudden your on pch hehe

I then made my way back to the rock store as i had passed it right up the first time to get a drink... only to find out they were closed (didnt notice the first time) and that i was the only bike in the parking lot

SO i headed over to neptunes net to grab a drink. This was by far the best stop. I pulled up, and was taking my helmet off and i did a double take... is that nooo is that my Girlfriend here! NO WAY.. sure was she was stopping in for a drink as well after a hike... we didnt plan meeting or even know that i was on a ride she was on a hike... talk about small world. (dent in the tank is from the Previous owner btw)

And here are two panoramic pictures i stitched together.

The mountains off decker canyon. Click HERE to view the super large version

And off the top of stunt road. Click HERE to view the super large version

All in all an amazingly awesome day... i feel bad for you people who are freezing their asses off!

shhh... i only dreamed once or twice on that road that i was on a drz400sm. God that woulda made it even more fun for that section. And yup first time on Tuna... found it by accident, kept going straight at the top of stunt when i really wanted to make a right... o well next time. The pavement was pretty rough, and there was lots of dirt n crapola on it... but i was out for a scenic ride... not in fast paced race mode haha.

you rode just under half of my regular weekend canyon loop. my two friends on liter bikes don't join me on the "Tuna" portion of this ride any more, I wonder why?

:cough:bite me:cough:

Nice ride and awesome photos. At some point in my life I want to make it further west that Iowa. Thanks for posting. I guess I'll be heading out to ride after this weekend. Supposed to rain all weekend which will wash away the salt. After that, the temps will be almost 50. That's ridin' weather 'round here.

When I saw that you had the last post, I thought you would have quoted the post about first ride through TUNA CANYON with something saying 'There is a joke hidden in here somewhere.'

Don't think it didn't cross my mind. That one was wide open.

Isn't there a sewage plant at the bottom of Tuna Canyon?

Thanks. I needed to clean my desk anyway. Now that it is thoroughly soaked with what I was drinking, now would be a great time.

Boy do I know those roads! When I was living in the Malibu Hills there wasn't a single stretch of road left unexplored, and Tuna Canyon is one of my favorites.
And then there were the rides I hosted up there for more than a year:
https://wristtwisters.com/open-bike-d...odic-ride.html
Great rides, met many WT members, and only one drop during a ride.

Thanks for the excellent pictures!

Rob

If it has already been done, it is safe to assume it is possible to do it.
On the other hand, if it has not been done never assume it is impossible to do it.

Myself and my family were out your way for the Breeders Cup a month or so ago. We did lunch at The Paradise Cove just down the way from where you were. I flogged a Dodge Charger through your very route. Sure wished I was on the bike instead of the car. Thanks for the shots......

That'll work........

Well, if you guys from CA ever get up to the Central Coast, take 58 East off of the 101 thru Santa Margarita till you hit 229.
229 has got to be the windest piece of road in the US. Got to watch out for big pickups hauling horse trailers.
