Sep shindig

I'm wondering if anyone knows a place to stay (Motel) near Virginia Beach (along the US 58 / AKA 17th Street) that would be safe to park my bike. Doesn't have to be to close to town, sometimes it's safer to be between towns. I want to come to the September 19 beach Shindig....... Monk

Seriously... it has been a really long time since you have been here....
There is no between towns. There is just 'between busy intersections' - Lol

You will be fine anywhere actually.

How close do you want to be to the ocean?
There are hotels at 'town center' that are nice and have parking garages.

Walking distance from bars, a mall, some good food, etc....

+1 here. Just stay away from the ocean front and you'll be fine. It's just crazy busy down there. Traffic is a nightmare.

Town Center is nice. Plenty to see and do. Plenty of eats there.
Motels are plentiful as well. As time gets near, feel free to hit up myself, f4iguy or Simpson and we can help ya out.

Not sure. There are some at the ocean front that have parking garages. Traffic will be crazy down there though. It's not horrible but at peak tourist season it gets busy, busy... Especially during the summer and weekends.

Look up Independence Blvd and Virginia Beach Blvd. Zip code 23462 I think?

Also, there are hotels on Bonney Rd if I'm not mistaken. Also Hotels off of Newtown Rd right at the end of the exit from I64 east (used to be I44 if you remember)
This should be zip code 23462

Not sure, that's why I'm throwing it out there... But won't school be back in session during the shindig? That will cut down on a lot of the traffic, maybe?

Ya, public school will be back in session but the weekends are still busy at the beach. Young locals love that place. The strip gets very busy Friday, Saturday night but we will be away from all that but if some of the fellow WT's end up staying at the ocean front it will be busy.

Newtown and Greenwhich rd have several (La Quinta, Holiday Inn)
VB and Independence has some nicer hotels with the afforementioned festivities nearby. (Courtyard, Weston)
Bonney Rd has more 'business' type hotels. Nothing really in walking distance but a gas station and businesses.

South Hill is a good spot for the Western NC group to meet with the Western VA group - Just timing it kinda sucks. If one person is running late.... everyone gets cranky!

But there is a 'Riders' restaraunt there (I think) attached to a motorcycle shop right on 58.

I thought that location was a spot where you'd go though anyway.... What we could do, if ya'll want, is to fig'r a time to meet, and a time to leave from S. Hill (say within a half hour). If no one else is there so be-it, don't want to turn it into a head trip.( I know how it goes when you have to deal with a 2nd person being on time).... Just thought I'd throw it out there if ya'll wanted to get together.... No sweat otherwise..

Thanks, we are going to take 80 into omaha. Stopping by to see Doug and Jill - possibly baby if the little one decides to come early. I might think more about it if Declan gets the Border job and can not go. If I go on my own I would take a more direct route - no offence to Doug and Jill I would go for a few more hours on the beach.

Hope
