Planning a yellowstone trip

Hey guys, I am planning a Yellowstone trip.
I am from Pismo beach, CA. Thinking about trucking the bikes up there and spending 5 days explore Yellowstone on a moto. Anybody done this? Tips or thoughts?

How are the roads out there? are there any offroad/dual sport roads.
I have a Honda 919 and a BMW G650Xcountry, not sure which bike would be better for the trip. I would think the G650X but the 919 is so much more entertaining.

thanks

Yellowstone is about to explode. I wouldn't go.

Why not just ride up? You have to spend time getting there so at least make that part of the trip fun. I would think the G650X is better off road since it's lighter, but the limited tank capacity could make it difficult unless you bring extra fuel canisters.

+1 on riding up. You'll miss half the sights and roads by driving up.

Lol.

Oh, planing and planning aren't the same.
Btw, the trip sounds great.

Lol, that is true. Let's go with planning.

I would love to ride, but it's not really feasible for me. I have a bad knee and anything past the 250 miles a day is pretty uncomfortable. Plus we are camping and need to have a decent amount of gear.

g00gl3it and I are only a couple hours from Yellowstone. There are 2 loops. I have ridden the lower but not the upper yet. Roads are pretty good, lots to see! I've never gone off road there in the park, but outside the park I'm sure you could find some. If you need help planning or possibly even to plan a ride send me or g00gl3it a PM.

I'm sure either of us could open up a bed and breakfast as well, for some passing travelers.

Now just to convince the wife to let me take off a weekend...

Well, my wife has family that owns 265 acres up in Kelly Canyon - it's en route to Yellowstone, and close to Island Park as well. Or the Tetons. You name it, it's all right here within 3-4 hours distance. I have dirt trails out my back door if you want that, or we can head into the mountains and climb to lakes sitting at 10k feet.

Overlooking the Snake River. Everything from the river up to where I'm standing is private farm land, plus another 150 acres to my right that you can't see.
