Heading to N. Georgia and The Gap

OK...Angela and I are going to see some friends in N. Gerogia for Memorial Day and then all of us are headed to the Gap.

Hotel is covered, but I am looking for tips on what rides to do and take.

The Gap is a given. But I want tips on other hidden treasures. Keep in mind there will be a few cruisers with us and Anglea and I will be the only ones not 2 up.

I appreciate any tips and suggestions. Pics will follow. Maybe I can get Angela from behind the camera and in front of it.

When you say North GA, give me some city references. I found some nice riding from Helen and west in N. GA.

Ride the Cherohala Skyway while you're at the gap. Very nice to ride up the mountian and into the clouds. Watch your speed.

We will be in Braselton, GA for Memorial Day. That is where our friends live and they are hosting a pig roast. We are then heading up to our hotel (staying at the Holiday Inn in N. Carolina..not sure of city but near the gap and skyway).

And yes our friends are only 10 minutes from Road Atlanta and we stay with them for the race.

Keep the tips up. We plan on a ride Sunday as well before heading to the hotel Monday.

The stuff I found might be out of your way from Braselton. Most of this stuff is up near and west of Helen. There's a nice ride from Helen up to Blue Ridge and takes you to Ducktown, TN. From there you can head north towards deals gap but we turned back south there. The road from Blue Ridge, GA to Ducktown is a nice curvey road that follows the river and it's a nice ride... actually everything along that route was nice rural riding and good roads. Here are some links that I marked when I was planning the trip:

Also, if you get over that way take 52 from Elijay to Chatsworth... it goes over Fort Mountain and that is a FUN road. I second the Cherohola Skyway too.

Dalonaga is a great place to ride. Just north of Braselton.

yep, that's where we stayed for a couple of nights during our riding weekend. There's a cajun place on the square in downtown Dahlonega that is awesome... they don't take credit cards so take cash if you go.

There's lots of good riding in that area. You can find a good route just about anywhere you go.

I will ask my friends about that place. They ride a lot so I am sure they know where it is. An early Sunday ride may be needed with my buddy. His girl is coming but we can probably sneak out for a ride where he can go solo and a quicker pace.

We leave tonight after work for GA!!!! Staying there two days then heading out on Monday for the rest of the trip. Our hotel is actually in Dillsboro so we'll be riding around that area Monday and Tuesday and making the ride to the Gap. Should be a fun trip, we're all looking forward to it!

Have fun. My best bud lives close to there and the riding is supreme. Cherohala, anything around TWO, Blue Ridge, etc., it's a long list. Sounds like you've got some locals who can direct you to the places the police don't crawl. Scrape the tarmac for me.
