No actually that's a poor assessment as I said much earlier in this thread that I would play devil's advocate. Your assuming that I want to girls are crazy which though at times I belive is true I'm not looking for one specific answer. I want to find the most common reasons. As yet I don't believe I've a ladies perspective on this so far in just getting answers from other guys which though cool isn't the point. I want to see the different reasons. You must admit that in many things there is a double standard and I feel this is one area. Just because you belive I'm looking for an answer I apparently have in my head that is not true. But your entitled to your opinion as am I speak your peace and if you don't like my answers you don't have to keep coming back and commenting

Plus you find me a side car for a maxim 650 and ill happily take the dog along.
I've dated a few gals who have their own bike and more who go on with me. I'd prefer one who doesn't ride and never wants to get her own. I like the feeling of having them on behind me. Wayyyyyyy better!

Lol well I can't disagree with that but I do think it would be nice for the girl to have her own ride. At least you can enjoy the twisties without worrying about what they are going to do that might throw your balance

Riding with a passenger is simply a matter of trust if some girl came to my house I met on the Internet and said want to go for a ride on the back I would say hell no. I have been riding bikes and quads since I was seven years old I have thousands of hours of experience off road, but when I started riding on the road it's not a matter of your skills when you ride it's not a matter of if your going down its when your going down lets be honest did I expect the bicyclist to be crossing the road on a blind turn....hell no what retard would do that? One that wouldn't help me pick up my bike when I went off into the grass and dumped it in order to save his life (hope he drowned in a rain storm). To be honest I was doing 50 in a 40 with out a Speedo correction, but i was speeding. With all of that in mind....do you even really want to put someone else life in your hands like that because if my gf was on the back she could have died, where as in my car we would have braked and had ample time to stop. Now with my rant in mind most women know its not you who is the danger it's all of the other d-bags on the road particularly bicyclists

Depending on the rider, probably in most cases yes. How many riders actually PRACTICE panic braking?

Those that have track experience would have a much better response (i.e., no panic grab) AND response time than most riders.

Remember you have to right yourself in order to panic brake unless you want to kiss pavement and on a tight left turn you have limited to no space

Never liked abs myself. I can see its uses but ive some close calls because of it in my own cars. I can brake during turns on my bike but its a very light bike to. I've riden my paps large cruiser and I can see your point, its like trying to stop a meteor, at least in panic stops

I mean i took the smart rider course and had practiced emergency braking, what I was taught is stand the bike up straight and grab the brakes as hard as you can without locking them up....so i stood the bike up braked and ran out of road hit some wet grass and my whole body slammed when the rear of the bike washed out from underneath me...broke my bar end mirrors and bent my handlebars....funnily enough I had my new pro taper bars in my backpack when I crashed...worst crash I ever had was on my Honda 450r I cased it riding along 84 in fifth gear had the quad come down on top of me my knee was black for 3 months and my shoulder....and destroyed my brand new red chrome thor helmet which I had worn for the first time...always drop my helmets now superstition.

Jesus, sounds like a rough one. They always said that at the basic course I took my first year, but the second year I took the advanced class and they pretty much show you collision avoidance and braking during a turn. I'm glad I took it after a couple closer incidents

I was single the first 2 years that I had my 919 and honestly, I pulled more chicks with my Jeep Wrangler. That being said, the women that "dug" the bike were a LOT more fun! I'm still with one of them 4 years later.

First date on the bike? Only if she suggests it, otherwise they might think your trying to compensate for something. If she does want to involve the bike on the first date, make sure you shower and get plenty of sleep the night before! . And don't ride like a jackass with a new passenger, leave them wanting a little bit more for the next time. If you scare her on the first ride, you'll be sleeping alone!

No matter what you do, don't show up in full leathers. Unless she's into that kinda stuff.

There is nothing like a cool gal riding on the back of your bike holding on to you and squeezing tight now and then.

I remember those days, but they were half a lifetime ago.

That sucks bigtime.

I always wonder about pictures like this. Do you think this poor girl knows that almost all of the motorcyclists on the internet use her as a joke? She doesn't get paid for it, just the center of a bad joke. I mean she just went out for a ride one day and now she's immortalized as "Fat girl on motorcycle" Has to be terrible on the self esteem when people recognize her and I'm sure someone, somewhere does.

And yet, how did that bike ride with that kind of load? Those style bikes really aren't meant for that large a passenger

I think about 110 lbs back there.

I say the girl is what she is. Doesn't mean she can't go for a jam.

Not saying she can't just that she might be better off on a little larger bike something lower to the ground maybe, you never see a girl that large on a Harley getting cracks about her weight
