M/C deaths by state and....

Any one heard when the new hurt report is due? I was joking with my wife about moving to Cali (we can't afford it) and she thinks the m/c death rate is[I]probably[I] higher there than other places. I searched but couldn't find stats. I would guess comparing hard numbers is unfair being Cali is a bigger state and has a higher population. It would be interesting to compare percentages. Thoughts?

State by state is tough. Percentage to registrations doesn't even equalize the field because many states don't have year round riding seasons. Cali & Florida are probably right there in the top 5.

Ace link there Jetblast. Thanks. It echos the hurt report a little, too.

Throw in population too.

Throw her the consistency of a year round riding season vs. being rusty in spring, and that the larger # of riders would make the driving public more aware of MC's. Probably best to pretend L.A. doesn't exist though.

Interesting link, Jet. Illinois has a quarter of a million registered bikes, I sure didn't see that coming. Wisconsin is also huge into riding, but does a much safer job of it.

Wisconsin = Harleys.... I wouldn't expect us to be high on the safety side of the scale thanks to them though!
