I know this is a zombie thread, but fwiw, I liked the suggestion of getting her on a group ride. Sometimes people will not listen to their significant others (or parents), but will listen to others. Of course since she is a newbie, the group would have to be people who want to ride at a reasonable pace.

Sorry PV... Didn't mean to talk shit about your deaf friends! Still don't believe you are. But if it's true, I'm always impressed at how much more grounded and usually headstrong hearing impaired people are. Again, didn't mean to call your GF The Incredible Hulk!

For what it's worth, yes, Pvster is deaf. Well, the technical term is 'deaf', you can hear a bit, right? You have hearing aids and you heard most of my babble that night at VooDoo donuts.

Of course, I also yelled at him about his Watsens and Sato's for a good hour and he didn't pay attention to a word I said, so maybe he is totally deaf.
