Emergency contact information

How do you carry your emergency contact info? Is it in plain sight and clearly legible for emergency workers, or stashed on an illegible piece of paper in your wallet or pocket? If you were to be involved in an accident and gained a concussion, or got knocked out, how could a good Samaritan, or emergency worker gain necessary information about you?

We often overlook the simple stuff like making our information available to others until it is often too late. I found a product that offers a unique and easy way to keep your personal info in plain sight.

RoadID

After I ordered mine, they sent me a coupon for $1 off any referral purchases. This way it costs you a little less for peace of mind that you may not think about until too late.

Follow this link for the savings, or use the Coupon Number: ThanksJames465345.

I have mine in my cell phone under I.C.E. and on a card in my wallet, I have a small "dogtag" attached to a few pieces of my scuba gear when diving since I usuall don't have my cell phone or my wallet with me then.

The race leathers I use at the track has a little see through pocket with a piece of paper for name and blood type. It's visible as soon as you unzip the suit. I have my information on it for emergency cases like that.

I'm in for the group buy...

I was just looking at the site, and was wondering what others might be interested in. I am torn between the bracelet and the dog-tags. On the dog-tags, they can put an image on the front. They don't have sport bikes, just a cruiser and a dirtbike, but they do offer custom logos. For $35-65 they can do a custom WT logo (or whatever else we pick). Didn't know if we could get a WT logo as part of the group buy for the dog tags.

Just a thought.....

Shawn

Sorry I'm a little late jumping in... just got around to my morning reading

I recently obtained a kit that you wear on the back left corner of your helmet.
The form you fill out is approximately 2"x8", & you fold it up and insert it into a little black "envelope" about 1/2"x 1-1/2" that has adhesive on the back of it and a little flap to close it up.

I'll post more info when I can get it.

I do like the electronic dog tags though, those are pretty cool.

I have a RoadID ankle bracelet and am usually wearing it when I'm out running. I didn't clean it ever so it got pretty funky over the several hundred miles I did last year and cuts into my skin when I wear it now. I'm going to try to see if cleaning it helps but if it doesn't I'll be ordering a replacement arm bracelet soon and transferring the tag from my old one to it. It could also be that I'm wearing it too loose and just need to strap it on tighter.

Otherwise my phone has an Emergency Contacts selection at the top of my Contacts list.

This is the reply I received a few minutes ago.

Quote:
We have a Club Discount Program that just might be what you are looking for. Essentially, we can issue the club a special coupon that entitles all club members to a 10% discount on any product offered by Road ID. The coupon would be valid for a 30 day period. All you have to do is get the word out to the membership via email, meetings, group rides, etc.

Let me know if you want to proceed and I can get the details ironed out for you.

Be safe out there,

Not to start a product war gentlemen and since it's doubtful anyone here owns stock in either company I have to ask...

So, utag has given a $2.00 jump drive a facelift and is selling it for $42 plus shipping? Couldn't you just load a simple .txt file with all your necessary medical info and wear it on a chain around your neck too, use a sharpie and write "Emergency" on it and you've just saved a bunch of money.

What happens when it gets wet?

It's pretty difficult to improve on a simple dogtag idea methinks, but I'd be interested in the roadid one.

Okay, not to change the thread. But, it does fit into the "Emergency" theme.

Here's my "Brain Fart". How about using a clear "Packing Slip" pouch and sticking it to the back of your helmet. Then on the inside have a "Note Card" or even better a lamenated "Note Card" or paper with all your info on one side and "EMERGENCY INFO" on the other. Now stick that into the pouch with "EMERGENCY" facing out and visible.

Just a thought ...

That might apply if you wore a helmet all the time, but the road id is designed to be worn while running, bicycling, rock climbing, swimming or any outdoor activity you may find yourself in that could necessitate the need to carry contact information. Good idea for just keeping it on the helmet though. I might worry about condensation and moisture effecting anything that is on paper, even if laminated.

I dropped a 4GB no-name thumb drive in my tea last week. I plugged it in while it was still wet, just to see what would happen -- it worked. It's dry now and still working great. I'm guessing that a more corrosive, or more saline, liquid (eg. road spray) would have caused problems.

Please use as anecdotal information only.

I'm in for one of these once we get the group price. I would by one anyway but will wait for the discount.

I use DAN Tags while diving for the same thing. Hadn't thought about a more readily accessable item for riding.

Thanks
