Drainage Grate Covers

People are stealing them, my guess is for scrap metal. It might pay to keep a low eyeball tuned for openings in the road ahead of you......

With steel scrap going for close to $200 a ton there are people getting it any way they can. There has been a major increase in scrap thefts in this area.

Was just on the local news from Palm Beach, soon as the word gets out others might start grabbing them too, gotta be worth a few bucks. Two weeks ago someone hit all the Cemetary's down there stealing the Bronze Flower Vase's, thousands of them.

I haven't heard a follow up story on the vases yet, one would think that would be an easy case to solve as soon as they tried to cash them in someplace.
A scrapyard is gonna know what they are and where they came from immediately I would imagine.

The scrap yard may not even realize until it is too late who the dirty bastard was. Many times you pull in, get weighed, dump the stuff in a bin or on a pile, go back, re weigh, tell them the type of metal and get paid. They might be able to figure it out sometime...

We have replaced countless brass fire plug-up caps on the outside of buildings. The fire department uses the fittings on the outside to pull up a tanker to and put water onto a building sprinkler system. It's two large male threaded pipes sticking out and they have caps on them. Some places are getting the caps stolen, others the whole fitting.

the news here caught somebody pulling the copper wire out of the streetlights. there's a little panel at the bottom of them and they just reach in and pull out 30 feet or so of thick copper wire, sparks shooting all over the place.

Sparks shooting all over the place? That sounds discreet!
