The Open Road

My family and I went for a road trip today, me on the bike, wife and kids in the car. It was my wife's suggestion. Isn't she great?

Storms were nearing, so I pulled over to put on my rain gear and my wife snapped this awesome shot through the windshield.

Doesn't it make you want to ride? To me, this picture summarizes what a lot of riding is all about.

Yes, 2007 that the PO painted gloss black and only rode 1,500 miles, lol. Poser I think.

I rattle canned a bunch of parts up front (handlebar, headlight bracket, rad side covers, instrument casing). I also got some wheel stripes done up like another member here, but i went with gray writing instead of white. The signals are 2009 CBR 600's.

Yes, those are Shiver mirrors. They were money well spent.

Where abouts to ?
Towards the Gatineau ?
Or Ontario side of the river?
Sure looks nice.
One day I'll get to Lac Phillipe again, but on the bike, spouse on the back, and deke over Wakefield.
Lot's of nice memories of that area from when I was a young kid, camping trips from Burlington.

This was on 18, South of Oxford Mills, SE of Kemptville. We were about an hour SE of Ottawa here. We actually went all the way down to a marina for lunch in Ivy Lea, near the bridge to USA I-81, Thousand Islands area.

I was actually stopped and putting on my rain gear when my wife snapped that pic. 30 seconds after we got back on our way it was pouring!

Lac Phillipe, eh? I used to go there as a kid in the 1970's, as did my wife. I wonder if we all might have been there at the same time at one point...my wife also lived in Wakefield at one point as a child.

Could very easily be !
60s & 70s.
Last time was 78.
Wakefield bread was THE best.
Went to a wee little place outside of the park entrance, a wee bit East I think, spelling may be off : St Cecile Cul de Sac, they has a wee creamery there. We got a tour and watched them make butter, and manually cut it into pound blocks with a top down wire press. Awesome butter, and with it on Wakefield bread, life could not get much better !
Some summer vacations, and long weekends as well.
Quite the racoon population.
Bears as well.

I got a tour of the Thousand Islands a couple years back, very nice.
I have family in the Ottwa area, maybe we can meet sometimes.

For sure. I would be happy to meet anyone from our 919 family.

There are a few owners in the Ottawa area, including a guy coming up for the summer from Montreal. I'm going to try to organize a 919 group ride from Ottawa up to the best twisties around Eastern Ontario, around Calabogie. I'll put a shout out on Wristtwisters when I get thing going in case there are lurkers or people near by that might want to join in.

Love the Pic! Reminded me of one I took back in the day of my Warrior. Thought I would share it as well.
