Testing out the chest mount

Recorded my scoping-out-for-cops run. Would like to use it at Deals Gap, but I may lean off too much.

For funnsies, I tried it on my son as well.

Pretty cool perspective of the Ninja Cockpit, but gets obstructed in the corners.

Funny seeing the world from a kids perspective!

I am not sure if the chest mount will work for me, since I hang off a bit much.

Definitely cool to see how a toddler sees everything.

These are the same uses I've been trying with the Gopro... Strapped it to my nephew and had him run around the house screaming.

How far leaned forward are you with the Z1000's? IIRC you and I are the same height and I I've always wondered about those chest mounts but always thought I'd be too leaned forward and all I'd capture is the gas tank. That view would actually be pretty cool and being on a 919 without a windscreen would make a great front view.

Also, how far are you getting down on the turns? Definitely getting blocked on the view while hanging off but if you're hanging way off then that wouldn't be a problem for me on the street.

I'm not really leaned in at all. I felt like I was more leaned forward on the 919 with Renthal UL.

The chest mount also allows you to tilt the camera up, if you needed to. The Ninja 1000's tank is also taller, or at least it seems like it.

Yeah, I hang off like an ape - I have almost an inch of rubber to play with, which I'll never hit on the street, but it makes me feel better that I've got the room.

Here's a video from a ride last fall. I used 3 different locations. Chest Mount, Handlebar Mount and a mount I made off of the passenger foot rest. I found that if you use some extensions to get the camera higher off of the chest mount you don't get as much of the tank when hanging off. Only disadvantage is when you look down you smack the GoPro with your helmet.

IMO the chest mount looked the best in your video. Gives the viewer a better feel of the ride.

When I went back and watched my own video, it just looks like crap. You're looking at my elbow 90% of the time, lol. Maybe I'll wear it backwards.

Yes, those are the GP Plus gloves (I have in the classifieds). Still feels a bit small.

Good to know! I might try one out, I'd have other uses if didn't work on the bike.

That's a handy link there! I'll check out the different bikes and compare. I'd say with my fat bars and after I'm at stock height, Maybe a little lower.
