Prog Rock fans better get this one

Transatlantic just released "The Whirlwind" and it is a truly epic Prog Rock offering. The two Disc set is well worth it just for the cover of Genesis "Return of the Giant Hogweed". I'm on my 3rd time through the set and I couldn't be more impressed. This one is a bit more guitar forward and very percussion driven. One of the best Prog efforts I've heard in a long time. Now all I have to wait for is the soon to be released Spock's Beard "X".

Here is the press release from "The Whirlwind":

TRANSATLANTIC – the Progressive Rock Supergroup featuring DREAM THEATER’s Mike Portnoy, MARILLION’s Pete Trewavas, THE FLOWER KINGS’ Roine Stolt and Neal Morse (Ex-SPOCK’S BEARD) – will release their long-awaited third album in October 27 2009.

THE WHIRLWIND is a 77-minute piece of music that is sure to satisfy the band’s legions of fans that have patiently waited almost the entire decade for the reunion of these 4 musicians.

THE WHIRLWIND will be available in two formats:
A 2-CD Special Edition containing a Bonus Disc with 8 newly recorded Studio Tracks.
(4 new Transatlantic compositions and 4 Cover Songs)
The SE comes in a digibook with a gorgeous 20 page color booklet.

The Track Listing for the Special Edition is:

Disc One:
THE WHIRLWIND

Disc Two:
1. SPINNING
2. LENNY JOHNSON
3. FOR SUCH A TIME
4. LENDING A HAND

If you are a YES fan..(DUH) then you need to check out Spock's Beard and Transatlantic Both. There are several others like Rocket Scientists, Abagail's Ghost, Karmekanic, and Porcupine Tree as well.

Porcupine Tree is a really good band. Gavin Harrison is a god on drums. I've got to get their latest release.
