Need opinions please

Anyone have this? If so, what are your opinions? I'm kicking around the idea of getting one.

It's like an Ipod on steroids, you can surf the web, down load somthing like 200 movies, record from your TV, ect...

This thing seems awesome! I love tech-toys, but never end up really using things like this after a few months... Novelty wears off and it goes on the shelf with the rest of my toys.

I'm just curious, where would you use this thing? Traveling?

My uncle has one. My first impression, "what's the point?" For a few bucks more you could have a full blown notebook with a huge screen and better sound plus versitility. Size? How often do you go somewhere that this 4.3" screen is the only thing that'd work?

If I need portable I can watch movies, teevee, music on my 2.2" screened cell. If I want to actually enjoy it, I have my notebook. The coolness factor will wear off. BIG skip.

3 cents.

Can you get a note book that cheap with 160gig and the compatibility to down load TV shows? Also it would be nice and easy to stick in my bag for my daily 5hr+ bus rides.

Do you guys have really set your bar that low? I mean, do you honestly believe that you can enjoy watching a movie on that tiny POS screen? am I the only one getting old here and needing at least a 27 incher and a good set of speakers to view a movie and enjoy it.

Oh but if you decide to buy it, send it to me and I'll give ii the old test drive and add a few more clips to your movie collection!

You obviously didn't read where I would be using it.

Yes I did and as ragdoll stated, for a few dollars more you can get a nice notebook that can do that and more.

Also, there are small jump drives that can hold 8GB's or more of data so you really don't need that big of a hard drive to begin with.

I'll help you look for one if you want. I just can't imagine anybody wasting money on those things, unless of course, you have money to burn. If so... what the hell are you waiting for!

Here, this is after a few clicks only so don't you go getting your panties in a wad... with a little more time, we can get you a better one or cheaper one.

Please think twice about buying anything from Gateway.

They recently sold there service/support programs off to MPC. This wont be a big deal until you need it.

I've had good luck with them in the past for single machines for friends and family but would look elsewhere moving forward.

I gotta agree that for the price that screen seems pretty small - but depending on how crowded the bus is you may not always have the room to have a full size laptop open to watch movies, and that player will fit in your shirt pocket.
Do the portable DVD players with the 7-8 inch screens have USB input? If so, I'd look at one of those and a 250gb pocket drive for all your movies, music, photos, etc. Both units together would still be cheaper than the player you're asking about, and you'd have a much larger screen (not laptop size though).

Appreciate all the feedback, but space on the bus is limited. I've previously used one of my laptops and it became a little cumbersome at times. I have a portable DVD player (no USB) but that means you have to carry a bunch of DVD's around and that too is a pain in the ass. I like the fact that you can log onto the internet anywhere there is a WIFI signal and the fact that you can hook it to your TV and download shows like a DVR. The small screen size seems to be the biggest downfall so that will probably be the deciding factor.

For your purpose I think it'd work pretty well.

I've got a notebook, laptop, portable DVD player and a PSP.

When space is tight and I'm not looking to lug around any of the larger devices, I bring the PSP and watch movies on it. Which are very easily obtained for a download.

Best use I've found for my psp is bringing with me to my archery deer stand. I can get up into the stand an hour earlier than I normally would and be able to sit and relax while being quiet enough with the end result that I see more deer and often bigger deer because I wasn't figitting.

My buddy has one that he has a couple helmet cams going to. He uses them to record his rides. I'll see if I can find them.
