Flying Mattress Alert!

wife/passenger: "we don't need to strap it down or anything?"
husband/driver: "nah, look, it lies flat in the bed!"

Just more [preventable] things to look out for.

I seen a mattress fly out of a small trailer on the hwy, a semi was following and drove right over it.

I also seen a ladder fly out of a pick up truck on the same hwy, the wind was blowing towards the ditch, that's where the ladder went. The guy never even noticed he lost it

I would be pissed if something like that happened. I got stuck behind an RV once and the dude was dragging some kind of drain hose, since the diameter was pretty big I take it as for the crapper. I was waiting for it to break off and fly up at me but I got to a safe passing area before that happened.

What's with the creepy UFO music?

This kind of thing scares me to death... I've hit 2 mattresses while driving my vehicles in the past, that blew out of trucks just like in the video. Lucky me there was no real damage either time, once no damage at all, second time a punctured radiator hose (the hose bounced off of a pulley)

If I had been riding my bike rather than driving the large, sturdy truck... I'd have been killed!
I keep a keen eye out these days for vehicles with unsecure loads. I avoid them like the plague they are.

Well, fire the engines! Spur this iron space-pony on!

I was in the same situation a couple of years ago. It wasn't a mattress though, just a big ass full size couch. Considering it was very close call and I felt sooo happy to dodge it, I wasn't even pissed at the driver. I was just so thankful I didn't spill it. I have to say I did feel pretty mad about 20 min later, after realization of what actually happened kicked in

Just ask Skillz what happened on our way back from Craters of the Moon national park this year... a motor home pulling a pop up trailer decided to let it loose and it drifted across incoming traffic and into the borrow pit on the other side of the highway. RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!

Imagine how dangerous that would have been had we been coming the other direction...

He didn't even notice, either. We had to speed up and pass him to wave him down to tell him his camper had already picked a spot for the night!
