Oh yeah man. I did almost the same thing. The way I look at it is It's better to beg forgiveness than to ask for permission. The first bike I ever got was a free though so she couldn't really complain about me spending money.

That right there is the center of Russian Foreign Policy.
For me it's difficult to keep up with my mate, she's in her second childhood and has a serious dirtbike habit.

My other half wants me to get another red 919 because she likes the color better. The key is to do this before you're married and set the bar. I'm setting it really high and I'm already on my 4th bike in 5 years.

The (ex) wife told me no way in hell I could have a bike.... After things went south, I went out, bought my 9er as a big and found someone who enjoys riding.

+1! My wife loves that I ride and when we first met she was against it. I made it very clear just as we started dated that it was either I keep riding and she support my passion 100%, or its the highway. She supports me 100% and even better, loves going with me to the track

Going 5 for 5 and getting another road trip in? Sounds tempting, but I'd lean towards just repainting than getting a 3rd 919.

I do want to make a trip to Yellowstone in the next few years and check off the northern states. I would probably try to do it on an ADV bike though. We could probably meet up again.

My wife always comments and laughs when she hears the - "my wife won't let me buy a bike" She says that she knew better than to tell me anything.

Second date she got on the back and I knew it was true love.

10yrs later and several bikes later, we are still married and I have 2 in the garage (well 3 but I am selling one). It helps to have separate accounts. I don't get upset when she comes home with shoes or another Ipad accessory and she doesn't get upset when I buy a new knife or gun.

Told my wife that I was going to buy a bike from a buddy of mine for $500. She laid down the law and said I could get what I wanted till she got what she wanted(a kid). I agreed, she looked at me weird since I didn't put up a fight but walked away happy. A few years go past and he gets pregnant so I say I'm going to go buy a bike. She asks if I'm going to buy my buddies bike for $500, I say no. I tell her I'm going down to Honda in town to go look at a bike and when we made the deal she never stated there was a price limit. Remember there's always a loop hole!! Lol

Right from the start, I told her that I wanted to get back on a bike. I made sure to keep that on her mind with an occasional reminder. A few years later, u was going to buy an 85 or so 750 nighthawk from a friend. My wife's response was "wait until you find something you really want and a little newer". I took that to heart! I found the 9er about 2 years after that. It was a local sale that I couldn't pass up. She approved though she says it looks like an old mans bike.

Great wife! Great bike! Good times!

I'm going through this now, for the last two years I've been telling the wife I will have another dualsport at some point in time. It'll be a rough month when I find the right deal....

Me: I'm going to buy a motorcycle soon.
Her: OK. Be careful. I love you.

When she met me, I was motocrossing and also road racing a vintage car. At the time, i told her gently but firmly that I was not about to change, so take it or leave it. Turns out, she's the genuine article - lets me be me and gives me some guidance without being bitchy about it. Going on 17 years now - keeper for sure.

I remember an eBay ad of a couple of years ago for an almost new one-owner GSXR-1000. The killer line was, "When I told my wife I was going to buy this she said I could get any [email protected] bike I wanted. I guess she didn't really mean it."

"Keep on 9-in"

My wife actually made me buy the last bike I was a month with out a street bike and apparently I was getting rather annoying she also thinks I'm sexy in my gear. She slao thinks the 919 and speed triple are pieces of art.

She won't pilot one but she enjoys being on the back of my bikes gotta get another Sport tourer just for her. So yeah guess I picked a keeper.

Common sense. So rare it's a god damn super power.

Meet my wife on my Shadow which I later crashed and then she told me about my next bike. (78 cb550) When the 550 died and I bitched for a summer about not riding I got a new bike. I wanted a naked bike and was going to settle for an sv650 and couldn't seem to find a 919, she told me to wait till I found what I wanted. Had a deal in place for a sv and the seller backed out and found my 919 on craigslist the next day. Now she gets to say I told you so and I got my bike. However now she is sick of hearing about mods and how I kind of want to work on the 550 too but hell she meet me on a bike. She should have known what she was in for.

Something similar here:
It started about 4 years ago.

Wife: All your friends are getting motorcycles.
Me: don't know, maybe later.

It went on and on like that every other month or so.
Last year:
Me: I registered for classes at Community College!
Wife: after few seconds of silence - I thought you're done with all your classes two years ago.
Me: Remembered what you were asking me every few months what I want to buy?
Wife: silence
Me: I registered for MSF
Wife: smiling - Make sure you update your life insurance!!!

Few weeks after the class, I went to "Pete's Cycle" to negotiate on the price for my 9-er.
Wife: Did you get it?
Me: No, the dealer did not want to come down.
Wife: How much?
Me: $100 lower
Wife: You IDIOT, for 100 bucks? Call the dealer, you're bringing the bike home TODAY!

I love her!

great wife here

I have been married to mine for 41 years in june. I had a bad wreck several years ago that nearly did me in. She worries about me riding since that wreck but knows I love to ride. I told her I was going to buy a 9er, she said why don't you get a Corvett instead. wow what a woman ! She is a real jewel. I reciently bought a real sweet 2007 red 9er, and she told me to get a new helmet also. Ain't that great. I told her it's Like George Jones' song says,
" I don't need no rockin chair, your geritol or your medicare " or Mommas Corvett !! love that woman though, Lew (oldman)
