Bought my 919 last weekend

So I bought the reason I joined this forum over the weekend. I bought it from a friend of mine who I ride with occasionally. So I was able to ride this bike before I bought it.

2003 Honda 919
R Title (didn't know that till after I bought it )
20,000 mi
Aftermarket bars
900rr headers
Danmoto exhaust
Undertail (which means he used a reciprocating saw)

Here's what it looked like when I bought it:

About 2 hrs later it looked like this:

I saw some photos of HeliMech and some other bikes on here and I really liked them. Thanks to plastidip I was able to do this very easily, and if I get sick of the matte white look, I can peel it all off.

I had to do the headlight unit, I hate all the chrome on there:

Here are some photos of the handlebars. The kid said he bought them from a company in Ohio, he couldn't remember the name:

.....and I plastidipped the windscreen:

Danmoto exhaust, sounds good:

Next I want to get a CustomLED tail light, and make the 6 spoke wheel conversion.

Let me know what you guys think of the bike.

Oh, I'm also looking for some oem decals.

Bikes:
2004 V-Rod (sold)
2004 CBR600F4i (sold)
2003 RC51
2010 Triump Scrambler (sold)
2003 CB900F
2004 CBR 600rr

Non Bikes:

2005 CTS V (sold)
2006 Audi S4

Looks great. Amazing transformation! The black front fender looks great with the white.

Very nice! See guys, a Danmoto pipe mounts perfectly on backwards to the 900RR header. Almost too easy!

Yeah, reconstructed title. Since I talk to this guy pretty frequently I never bothered to ask the regular questions you would when buying a motorcycle. As I started it up outside the notary I asked, "who had this before you?" Then he proceeded to tell me the guy put it in a ditch and rebuilt it. Ohhhhhhh

Plastidip is ridiculous. I've been doing just about anything I can with that stuff. Cars, trim pieces, bikes, tools, etc. It's so easy, and you can always take it off.

Looks great man!

I picked up my tank decals off ebay for cheap. I am not running the 919 tail decals but have been thinking about putting some ... if you find some let me know.

The white paint is plasti dip and it is easy to remove? I wanted to vinyl wrap my bike, but this seems easier. How does it hold up? how easy is it to remove?

Plasti dip holds up well and peels off when you're tired of it.

check out youtube > dip your car you'll see tons of videos on the subject.

gibbonater how much dip did you need to do the tank/tail?

I was gonna do mine up in white too. Can't now that would make 2 white ones in Pittsburgh Area.

I got to get a close look at that bike, I want to see how the guy mounted those front turn signals, I am planning on ordering some small ones and need to figure out what to use to mount the front ones.

Yes the white is plasti dip. The more coats you put down the easier it will be to remove. Easiest way is to start at the edge somewhere, rub a bit to get some of the dip up off the paint and starting pulling on it. I would recommend plasti dip over vinyl wrap for a motorcycle job.

I should have started with a base coat of grey because my bike was red. But I am pretty happy with the result.

I don't think I used even 2 cans of white, not even a whole can of black. Which should run a grand total of $25 or something. Not bad for a homemade paint job, haha.
