I was there 5 days prior. I made sure to look where I wanted to go.

Same turn:
Xtreme Sports Photography at PhotoReflect.com - The Dragon Oct. 11th, 2012 Thursday

One of my favorite shots:
PhotoReflect - MoonshinePhoto.Com - Deal's Gap 10-11-12 Thursday

I should have a ride report up sometime soon. Still compiling all of the photos and videos.

It seems like there are a few pictures missing between 18 and 19.

A lot of stupid happens on the dragon. People do stupid things and forget the basics of riding when a camera is pointed at them and this rider is no exception.

The entire "Killboy failure dragon fest" thread on ADVrider is dedicated to this. I followed that thread before I went down to the dragon in May and made sure to be extra careful on my lines and speed. On one run, I was following one of the guys I met down there riding a Kawi 636 and he was really booking it. I found his picture with a rashed up bike posted on the dragon fail thread a few months later.

i dunno... id say its about right, both vehicles going in opposite direction, upon impact shit gets bad REAL quick.

what i found interesting is the dude on the bike gets on the brakes way late and actually lets up on em at one point before he hits the car.

He had a decent lean going for a few frames. I wonder if he scraped some hard parts and spooked him into standing it up. I feel bad for the biker and hope he didn't get too badly injured. Bad day for the vette guy too.

At NO point in that corner should he have stood the bike up. Would have been better for him to have low-sided and at least head into the hill than away from it, into oncoming traffic.

Note how the guy in the Vette looks totally cool the entire time. He's probably thinking "Thank goodness he has a Harley - He's got the cash to afford this, cuz I'm gonna sue his A##."

Actually, can't really tell if that's a Harley. Road star maybe?

That gives a much better perception - he has some serious target fixation going on. I think he even had time to stand it up, get bearings, then hard lean it again away from the Vette.

Live and learn, hopefully he's ok.

I agree on all accounts. I'll bet waving for the camera just before all this didn't help either.

Whew, glad it wasn't a Honda. Maybe the Triumph was wanting to ride on the other side of the road.

Or it just has a passionate hatred for plastic/fiberglass cars...

Or it just got tired of it's rider

You know.........I knew exactly what bike it was as he came around.

I kind of wonder if some of you guys have ever heard of any other bike besides the 919?????????

of all the cruiser the triumphs always looked best to me never dug the v twin thing i think the parallel twin looks meaner especially from the front and the sound of the thunder bird with tors system is just menacing.

it seems to me he panicked hope theyre both alright

Common sense. So rare it's a god damn super power.

Target fixation for sure

However, you don't enter a sharp corner from the inside, the bike is obviously going to shoot wide on the exit.

I feel bad for the guy in the vette, that would suck.

Someone posted on another forum that a local rider came through after that accident and slipped on the fluids left behind...and is in critical condition with a laundry list of major injuries. I don't know how true it is though.
