Where, online, is the best place to buy a Shoei?

I know I want to buy a Shoei RF-1000. Where is the best web site I can buy from? I know what size I wear now it is just a matter of finding the best price. So far the best web site I've been to is http://www.compacc.com/

Do your homework, get your best price, give me your Model, color and Size and if I can beat or match the price, I will help out. I don't have the volume power some of this Online business do but, once in a while, I can compete.

You can either PM or e-mail me at any time.

I don't want to change your mind but I have some good deals on ARAI RX-7 Corsairs in solid Black.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I did talk to RC90. Helmet Harbor has great reviews on "You Tube". When is the best time of year to buy a helmet?

Is this a rhetorical question?

About this time, when manufacturers are changing models or colors, last year's models go into "Closeout" mode and you can find yourself with a sweet deal (just like the one on your link). If you wait until about January, you can get an even sweeter deal as far as price but, sizes will be a problem some of the times (more so if you're a std size head MED or LRG).

I'll put in a plug for Helmet Harbor, too. Maybe not on price, but I visited their actual location here in Gilbert and it goes down as one of my best retail experiences, period. The guy knew his product and explained everything thoroughly, made me feel comfortable with the purchase, and it was just sub $200 lid, too.

Just for grins, you may want to check local shops too. I was recently price checking on a solid color, large Scorpion EXO-700 and the best online price I could find was $199. A local merchant is ready to match the price, and the tax is about the same as the shipping I would have paid. In this case, I'd rather give my money to the local economy. Just a thought...

I opened the page you pasted above from Comp Acces. and they have quite a good deal on the Camber graphic model - $299 is real good. I bought the Diabolic a while ago and went the E-Bay route for a good price. You have to be careful with E-bay and many won't use it because of that.
Anyway, the Camber design was my second favorite and probably would have bought one at that price when I was looking.

Overall the RF1000 is a good helmet, you should enjoy it. I have a clear shield and one with light tint. Very easy to interchange.

Just my but I find my RF-1000 loud and foggy. The chin bar is noticeably closer to the face than my wife's HJC or my old Bieffe which causes breath fog. I am guessing that CO is much like MN in that summer is about 2 weeks long and the rest of the year is foggy face shield weather.

Her's is also much quieter.

One good thing is that Shoei says they did extensive wind tunnel testing to perfect the shape and make it as low drag as possible. I believe it because I do 70-80 on my way to work every day and my neck never gets tired. A big plus on a bike with no windscreen.

Bottom line, it's a good helmet and I would bet more people on this forum own it than all the others but I want to get something else.

I was planning to replace my lid this Winter and have been torn between getting another RF-1000 or going with Scorpion.

I just stumbled into an RF-1000 in my size on sale for $272 (shipped, new). This is a darn good price. What should I do?!

I'm still weighing on this. I love my current RF-1000 (it's nearing 5 years old and time to replace though). The only thing holding me back is shield fogging. Shoei seems to be the only helmet manufacturer left that does not incorporate a shield with anti-fog properties. And a lot of my commuting in the Spring and Fall causes my shield to fog up. This is why I was considering the Scorpion. Try as you may, you just can't fog up a Scorpion shield.

But dam....that $272 price tag is hard to turn down!

If you put shaving cream on the inside of the visor, let it sit for a little bit then wipe it off, it won't fog up anymore!
