Tear-Offs

So, I bought a smoke shield for my KBC Force-RR, and it has the posts installed for tear-offs. Does anyone here have experience with these? I am curious if they are a universal fit, or specific to the helmet manufacturer. I have tried a Google search for the KBC version with no tangible results. Thanks for your help. I would like to try them out with all the bugs we get around here.

Ehhhh.... wassup doc. Nothing to them really, they usually come in packs of 12 or so, and you are supposed to tear them off during a race to get rid of debris like bugs, etc. Contact KBC directly, they are not always a direct fit - but I am pretty sure like Arai's will probably fit.

Thanks WIM, I'll take a look at the Arai tear off's. KBC's site is not very user friendly. I'm still gathering black funding for the upgrade to a Shoei, or another Arai.

DANG! Wish you had told me, I just sold my Arai RX7 Corsair. Let me know if you REALLY want to get one of those, I can get them for you WAY below retail.

To be honest, I sold my Arai in favour of my KBC VR-2. I actually found it to be more comfortable than the Arai - go figure.

I love my VR-2! Just wanted to throw my .02 in there. This helmet is comfortable, relatively quiet, and it didn't cost my left testicle to get one. I wish the visor removal was a little nicer.

I jost spoke to KBC, apparently they DON'T make tear-offs for their helmets - go figure, but some company called Paulson's out of Temecula does. I am still searching to find them..... I will keep you posted.

As for the visor replacement, mine was not hard at all. I guess am just smart... he he he

Sweet! Thanks for the info WIM. I tried to get my local shop to do the research, but they came up dry. My visor is the same as the VR2, or at least it said that on the packaging when I got it.

To confirm, your visor is identical to the VR2 visor. And.... I just found out that the Shoei Super Thin (Race) tear-offs should fit that shield. At $4.20 for a pack of 6, I think will try them myself.

Don't know what the weather is like out there, but on cool mornings, you may want to consider another accessory I got - the Foggy Mask. It is like they were made for KBC helmets and they work great.

I have been using this Fog-City shield insert for a couple of years, and have been very pleased with it's performance. It is totally set it and forget it. Once it is installed, just clean it from time to time like a normal shield. I had the foggy insert before, and with the way air rushes under the chin of the Force-RR, I may need to look into it again.

The Tear-Offs from the Arai helmet will work on the KBC as well. They come in packs of five (5).

Unless you're buying a whole lot of them, giving you a good deal on them will not benefit you in any way as shipping will void the discount. Try to hook them up with your Local Parts Counterman.

Here are the part numbers you need...

81-0162 Clear
81-0160 Light Smoke
81-0210 Dark Smoke
