Shark Helmet high-side video!

I enjoyed an informative discussion with an industry expert that wears Shark. He discussed the below video with Miguel Duhamel; shown high siding in the lead and continuing the race! The only inconvenience to Miguel was a stiff neck, no tweety birds!!! I need to choose between their carbon fiber race RS-R2 and RSX. There's only a 50gram difference but the one-time use, noisier, carbon RS-R2 distributes impact better than the -$200 RSX. He claimed they both tested out to the lowest TBI risk in the industry at 90Gs!

I'm not super savvy with the technical aspects of the helmet, but I've been riding with a Shark RSR2 for a few months now, and I couldn't be happier. I've seen multiple sources refer to Shark as industry leaders for safety and weight. As for the noise in the RSR2, I can't complain about a thing. I'm happy with it. However, I have no experience with the RSX which I presume is also a great helmet. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

Oh, and I'm not willing to "test" it for you.

Thank you for the great feedback! Now I'm lusting to get the "throwaway" model, RSR2.

I was very impressed by shark's awesome visor thick, non-distorted, flexible and easy to remove. It has deep air vent channels that catalyzes impact compression. Make sure it's a very snug fit since the liner compresses.

Yeah that dude is tough! The guy I met spoke with him about the accident. The most impressive point is Miguel felt no adverse effects to his head! What a testimonial! I'm sold on Shark helmets!

Yeah, Miguel is probably the toughest racer out there...

I'm sold on the helmet.
So is this the Snell 2010 spec helmet?

What's the best price out there?

Got a track day on Feb. 27, so don't want to wait too long. :001_smile:

i still am hooked on the bubble wrap....

i put my oakleys on... then i start carefully applying layers of bubble wrap...(the big fluffy ones.. not the little hard bubbles).. .. then i put cut in half drinking straws in my nostrils and wrap up... a little duct tape and some paint... total protection...

it is a pain in the butt to take off when you do in a store...

Shark's NOT SNELL! It's the euro spec ECE2205.
Models (RSX/RDR2) available now, I'll call to find out if the 2009 colors make your schedule.
They also are offering a flipup model.

Found a deal on the Duhamel replica for $467, but it's back-ordered for a month.

Is this a good deal? Or should I look some more?

is it important to have a replica or can you get a equivalent helmet and use your new found painting skills and make a one of a kind for less bones??

Where? That's over two-bills off!

Here's their current catalog. Not crazy about the gimmicky flip-face.

Call Parts411 at 877-484-4860 and talk to Paul (that's what he wears, Duhamel in red ).

BTW Thanks Econhonda, that's a great deal, but the graphics suck and probably been sitting on the shelf a year or two. I might get the Corser anyways.

Just got a Shark RSX myself for $179. Very happy with the fit and comfort. Sold an old HJC for $50 on CL, so my net upgrade cost was pretty cheap!

I am so glad to get a Shark RSR2 Carbon! At a featherweight 2.75lb they are 1/2lb lighter than the Shoei RF1K! Be aware the energy absorbing liner/Carbon helmet integrity may be compromised if they are every dropped! I bet the used ones online include one "free drop".
