Scorpion Helmets?

Went to a trackday last fall and the event sponsors were wearing scorpion EXO helmets. Said they had shoei and Arai and all the expensive stuff and said these were better. Really gave them a good plug. They even come with fog proof shields. (for us cold weather riders) They said it was the quality of a shoei or arai with the price of an hjc. Just curious if anyone has every seen or used one? Discuss.

I, too, have heard great things about the EXO-700 - so much I'm thinking about one myself.

Hmmmmmm $180 seems like a good deal as well. I'll probably be looking for a new lid this year so I'm with Turn1 on any additional ino would be cool.

I bet you wouldn't have a better chance of dying becauase this helmet failed those tests... but I sure wouldn't wear one now after reading that. I have read elsewhere about their 'reliability' whatever that entails... and it didn't sound so hot either.

"...the event sponsors were wearing scorpion EXO helmets"
"Really gave them a good plug."

Exactly, they are getting a business, something extra from Scorpian to wear/plug these things.

Yeah, that does kinda suck. They did say in the article that it wasnt significant enough to do a recall and they still give it their stamp of approval along with snell. Well I guess that means that you dont buy a 2005 model.

Yep, guess I'll have to stick with my Shoei. That's too bad, the Scorpion seemed like a good option at a good price point.

Maybe it's better this year, maybe it's the same as last year... maybe they redesigned it and it's worse.

Their is a company that I do trust and like, Shoei. That's what I use now, and I am ordering another one from them soon.

This has moved me to make a poll here. Or atleast moved me to try to figure out how to make a poll.

About time you replaced that old thing. Whats the shelf life of a helmet anyways?

Maybe it's just me but I truly believe you pay for what you get.

I personally only wear Arai and wore my one Arai for nearly 5 seasons and never had problems with it. Other guys bought the lower end helmets and had to switch them out every season. Add it up and it pretty well equals the price of one Arai helmet.

Plus you only have one head (and I'm referring to the one on your shoulders), why take the chance of putting it in a helmet that you "think" might be good enough. Cut corners somewhere and eventually it will catch up on you.

It's a 2001/2002 model, that's not old.

Even though my helmet kicks the poo out of most new cheaper helmet, probably time to get 2nd helmet. What do you guys think of these pups?

I'm thinking either this one.

Or this one.

Nevermind, I found a winner.

I have the Suomy Spec1R Bostrom replica. Big surprise there. It's much lighter than my old HJC.

I have been looking at Eric's new helmet though. Love the design!

Well definitely go with the 3rd choice but second choice would be the first link, I prefer that one.

interesting about the scorpions.
I've actually crash tested one in a HARD crash at well over 100mph and I didn't have so much as a headache. The ONLY problem I have is that they are a little too heavy.

I've got a AGV TiTech but it isn't very comfortable, so I wear my scorpion most trackdays, although when I race, its the TiTech no matter what.
