Perforated leather suggestions wanted

Looking for suggestions/links/recommendations for a perforated leather jacket. Not black. Preferably solid white or combination of white/red. Has (or able to accomodate) armor. Prefer the understated, yes boring to some, gear that isn't Power Range stylee. Any input appreciated - thanks in advance!

I never thought about how expensive it can be to lose 50 pounds and have to replace all of your gear!

This satisfies all your conditions except for maybe too flashy and power rangerish. Anyways that jacket is sweet so buy it anyways.

Unfortunately another power ranger style:Chicane

The only other one I could find was Icon.

Thanks for the links.

I'm looking at the Vanson Hurricane and Lightning, the Icon Merc, Fieldsheer Flex, and the Teknic Chicane. I'd lean toward the Vansons but it's hard to throw that much cash at a jacket I may only use a dozen times a year here in the NE. Need to do more research on the Fieldsheer and Tekinc. Why the for the Icon?

Solid white? That doesn't come around too often. Not sure solid white would be better than a power ranger style? My opinion only.

Ha! Check this honkey show out.

I don't recommend Icon wear. But again, my opinion. I feel they are concerned more about style and fashion then functionality and quality.

Think of them as the Apple computer of motorcycle gear.

It only takes bad ride out of a dozen annual rides to make a quality jacket worth it. We play in a dangerous sport, best to throw money at what matters most.

Are you size 46 or 48? I like the Flex myself, it has a race hump so you go way faster!

I'd like to say you get what you pay for, but that IS a little steep. I only wear Dainese currently and I got my jacket for almost half that. My suit was another story

Good sites.

I bought my jacket from motoliberty and my suit was custom made but I had to done through kneedraggers, great guys.

I'm not real picky about colors but I was leaning away from dark colors since a black perf jacket in hot weather seems to defeat the purpose of having something with a lot of venting. Thanks for the links. Think I'll pass on the denim though

You are absolutely right and I'm not going to skimp. But you'd have a hard time convincing me that a $700 Dainese is going to perform that much better than a $400 Vanson in a getoff. So where does it end - buying gear is a compromise between comfort, protection, and price.

I was lusting over this jacket/link yesterday - I used to be a 48 and now am a 44. Fantastic price though. I can't seem to find anything about the Vanson 'Solar' treated leather, good or bad, other than that everyone says it looks very strange in the daylight as if it has imperfections or something.

Sounds like Icon does not belong on the short list. I had it on my list because their 'Merc' jacket was one of the only solid whites I could find. Ah well, protection trumps color.

I just bought this Joe Rocket HRC jacket, talked them down to $305 for it.
Perforated, mostly white, 1.4mm cowhide and CE approved protectors with 360 degree zipper.

I picked up a Technic Chicane jacket a couple weeks ago-it's not the current style, actually looks better in my opinion and since it was the last one he had(luckily in my size) I got a screaming deal on it. Originally marked at like 275 it was on sale for 128, and after bull****ting with the sales kid for an hour I wasnt going to buy it then he said 70$, I said SOLD! Havent gotten a chance to try it out though.

Sounds like I should ask YOU to buy a jacket for me Where were you able to negotiate such a huge discount?

I don't know much about Teknic stuff - it's on par with the likes of Joe Rocket, First Gear, etc.?

How about something like this from Vanson. Not as much protection as leather but it is decent. Just the thing for those super hot days.

Nice idea Mike. It's looks like it's been 'obsolete' for a while -- the only sizes available are either small or giant.

Thanks for all the links guys. I'm trying to stay away from solid black just because it soaks up so much sun. Not fun in city/commuting rides when you want to get to work, meetings, or appointments without being a sweaty mess. One of my lids is solid white for the same reason. But going with another color really limits the field so I may have to rethink this priority. Seems like my non-black choices are Teknic Chicane, Vanson Hurricane or Lightning, Icon Merc, Alpinestars Ice, or this Dainese.

How would you all rate these jackets?

Let me take a crack at it: Dainese>Vanson>Alpinestar>Teknic>Icon

Here is what I have: Dainese, Alpinestars, Teknic and Vanson. I do not rate the Icon at all... sorry.

In the Teknic, you still have the option of one with a lot more White on it. Also remember, you will spend more time maintaining this jacket / keeping it clean. White Leather stains up pretty quickly.

You're a search whiz ragdoll! I sent them an inquiry since their online ordering system is whacked - you have to order without seeing the product or final price!

The Fieldsheer is nice but where do you guys think it ranks in relation to the others?

Rest easy with that site, it's an official Dainese dealer. Remember that that particular jacket you are looking at there is only vented.

Yeah I don't see any mention of peforations either, but the picture makes it look like there is.

I found this page and if you scroll down to jackets it says this:
1533559
G. Santa Monica
539.00
445.45
556.82

1533563
G. Santa Monica perforated version
539.00
445.45
556.82

So it looks like their is 2 versions.

If you look close it is under the Leather Jackets heading, it is not bolded like the other headings so it is easy to miss.
