New Lid, what do you think?

Got a new helmet today. Been wanting to try an Arai since it seems to be the one that everyone claim is the best??? Well I bought a Quantum II in Re-entry black. Yes it is an older model (2004 to be exact) but it is new with full warranty, I'm kind of old school and still like flames.

Well, I can now say that I believe the claims of this being a great helmet... The size, weight, fit, feel, air flow and visibility are tremendous. But the biggest thing for me was the reduction of wind blowing directly into my ear. I believe that the Shark I have is just the wrong shape for my head and allows the air to directly enter my ear.

I am completely satisfied with this Helmet, which for me is a difficult task to accomplish... being satisfied that is!

That being said, I have a Shark RSI for sale with the Mirror shield, Dark Smoke shield and the Clear shield. $200 + shipping.

The Shark is a Large.

Bought the Arai at a local dealer, got a decent deal on it. About 280 off retail.

I've always suffered from an Arai shaped head, which isn't all that bad since they do build a nice lid.

In our group of friends, there's a dividing line between Arai and Scorpion owners. We Arai owners are pretty snobby...some people just enjoy the finer things in life.

I looked at the 1000 Scorpion, it was Ok but seemed a bit on the big and bulky side. Not to crazy about all the gadgets (tinted flip down and the air pump system) because they would have been an issue later if not working correctly. I don't have a problem with the scorpion stuff and as a matter of fact I love the Jacket I have, but the helmets were just to big for my tastes.

Yes, I like the finer things in life. Hence the cars and other toys.

I just found a small spot where the paint came off, It was not dropped or damaged in any way so I don't know what happened. I think it just let loose, since there is no visible damage or scars around the area? I think it would be warrantied. So if your not in a hurry I would try to get it replaced first.

I'll find out tomorrow if they will replace the shark for paint defect.

As for the Arai... Holy cow, I should have done that a long time ago. I love it!

I have an Arai Quantum. I paid 380 for it new in 02. Imagine my shock to find the price has gone up 100 bucks at the same shop for the Quantum 2. I will keep the old for now.
