Looking for insulated overpants

I've got a fieldsheer Aquasport TX jacket, and now that we are seeing freezing temps. it's too cold to venture out with my jacket and jeans... Even thermal underwear doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

I'm looking for something that will easily fit over jeans, will be warm at 80mph in ~20 degree weather and has a decent amount of armor... I'm not looking to break the bank either, around $100 is what I'm able to spend.

I'm also looking for a good insulated pair of gloves, my mesh Teknic's don't work well in this weather either.

Any recommendations from the group?

You can find these at $100, shop around. I have the venture air and the CE knee armor really works, trust me.

Hope it all worked out ok...

Thanks for the link! These look pretty nice.

I looked at the fieldsheer pants to match my jacket... But wanted a few opinions before I spent the coin.

Ended up with a pair of Tourmaster venture pants.

Great quality for price paid. The insulated liner is nice. They are a bit bulky, but I imagine all overpants are.

Took a spin the other evening. Temp was approx 28 degrees. Stayed out for an hour and my legs were plenty warm.

I'm about 5'9, 155 - 160ish lbs, 30 - 32" waist, 30" inseam (insert short joke here). I ordered the pants in a medium and the waist fits over my jeans thanks to the elastic on the hips. Length seems ok, but a bit long... which is probably a good thing as the pan leg doesn't ride up my boot while riding.

Zipper runs from knee down with velcro flap. Easy to pull over pants without them rolling up.

Hip armor is a bit annoying, but will probably break in some and be more flexible. I have to check, but I think the knee armor can be moved up and down...

I'm pretty happy with the purchase. Paid about 115 for the pants.

Will update as I wear them more.

Also picked up a Balaclava made by HJC. I do not recommend this if you have a normal sized head.

I wear a large helmet... this balaclava squeezes my head enough that I could probably put my melon in a medium helmet with it on.

Eye opening is waaaaay too small.

I have a fleece ski mask with large face opening I got from Bass Pro back in the day that will have to work until I find something better.

Nate,

Does the Venture zip up with the Fieldsheer jacket?
My Joe Rocket mesh jacket's zipper is in the opposite direction, so I couldn't zip it up to the pants.

HBR has a FS jacket for sale that I'm planning on picking up tomorrow.
I'd like to get pants that will zip up to it.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner... I haven't tried to zip them together yet. I will give it a whirl this evening.

I've been belt looping my jacket to my jeans under my overpants, didn't even think about trying to zip them together...

No worries. The Venture is on BO so I ended up getting this:

Called them this morning and the guy I spoke with charged me $126.

Also got this: http://www.compacc.com/prod.cfm/cid/1101002/pid/18799

Very cool. I looked at Tourmaster and Fieldsheer... they were so close I decided on tourmaster because of readily available reviews online and price.

To lug my laptop I purchased this a few months ago:

Works well... but small when compared to others on the market. which isn't such a bad thing as I usually only have my laptop, charger, and a few other small items in it.

I've been wearing overpants ever since I got pinned under the 9er (the first minor crash). I think my right knee was the first point of impact. Ouch.

I've tried Joe Rocket Ballistic 5.0, Tourmaster Venture Air, Fieldsheer Mercury.

The JR does not have CE knee armor, the zippers are crap, but has nice overall looks.

Tourmaster venture has waterproof liner and cold weather liner, but the liners are not zipped, so you need to take boots off first. Overpants?
It has CE knee armor but could use more padding arount the armor.

The Fieldsheer Mercury has padded CE knee armor, the liner is zippered, and has better hip padding. Also the zipper is the best quality out of the three brands. I got a black pair but the white shows more detail.
