Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0 review

I've had this jacket for a couple of weeks and thought I would give my opinion.

Taking it out of the box I was impressed with how well it was made for a $140 jacket. I got the all black model in XXL and it fits well (6'1 230).

The first few rides were around 50 degrees. I left the rain liner in and had a sweatshirt underneath. I never felt cold with this combo but I think it would have been cold without the sweatshirt.

Last weekend it was 70 degrees so I took out the rain liner. WOW this makes a big difference. I had a t-shirt underneath and it felt like the coat wasn't even on. It was pretty chilly once I got over 40mph. I would say under 75 to leave the liner in.

On Sunday it was pretty close to 80 degrees and it was nearly perfect without the liner. It also has zippers in the arm in case you want more flow but I think it would have to be pretty hot before I would unzip.

My only beef with the jacket are the side straps that you can tighten. They must assume because you weigh 230lbs that you have a 60inch waist. I have to pretty much pull them to the end of the velcro before it's tight.

I like black but I probably should have gotten a different color for safety reasons.
