Red face GoPro suction cup mount fail

I have read years back that some folks had suction cup mount working on a 919 gas tank. I think the mount has been redesigned but theres no way I can get it to work. Probably a little too much vibration anyway, but its a really nice angle of the cockpit and road.

Anyway here are my failed attempts to keep it on the tank.

If anyone knows how to make this work and keep the view of the cockpit let me know.

2 words... RAM MOUNT

Not the same bike, but I have one on my VFR1200 and one on my SV650. Both are stem mounts, but you could get one that attaches to the bars.

This is what I have on my VFR...

Here are a couple of videos while at a short track near me, I could probably re-adjust the camera to get a better view of the cockpit, but I want to keep it out of the way so I don't bump into it mid corner or when I lay on the tank.

I used an adhesive mount from my drift camera on the lower half of the tank, worked really well and was a cool shot because you could see the forks working... don't really have any advise on how to get a cockpit shot other than one of the fancy gas cap ring mounts

I managed to make the suction cup stick to the tank, about 2" back from the gas cap. However when I tried to tuck it hit me in the chest.

if you love your motorcycle, set it free.. if it comes back and hits you.. you highsided

Am I missing the obvious idea of just using a conventional GoPro adhesive mount?

Not sure with the 9er if the camera height will work and if theres a flat spot to put it where it will see over the instrument cluster. Also theres me not wanting to screw up my paint job.

But it could get a try. Right now Im leaning towards the chesty.
