First Time Rider Helmet

My wife doesn't ride with me, but has been showing some interest when I show he pictures of the places I've ridden to and when her sister tells her how much she loves riding with her husband. Anyway, I want to get her a helmet so we can ride a little together, but don't want to spend over $100 because she very well may hate it and never ride.

At a local shop they have Sparx Retro helmets for $60 out the door. Is that an alright brand?

never heard of it. Scorpion is a good bang for the buck helmet and you can get closeout HJCs.

Make sure "Snell" rated.

Just got a Xpeed from Competition accessories for my son for $49.00 on a closeout, looks like a well built helmet and it's both DOT and SNELL certified.

+1... never heard of Sparx

Helmet closeouts seem to be popular the last couple weeks.

Chris, hit up Marty on Louisville Sportbikes. He works at S&S and can tell you the price on some Scorpion and HJC helmets they have. Let me know if you need his number.

Newenough.com has a few ladies helmets on closeout. Scorpion EXO-400 for only $59.99.

I've got the men's EXO-400 and paid almost $200 for it, plus its a great helmet!

Jim,

Please PM me his number if you don't care. I'm always looking for an excuse to ride to Louisville!

She really likes that one, but they don't have a Medium in either of the colors.

C'mon, get her nice helmet or just let her choose her own. It will make the whole experience much more interesting for her and increase her chances liking it. I didn't let my wife on my bike until she had her helmet, gloves, and jacket. I have a hard time finding summer riding pants that she would like.

Take her to the store, let her try bunch of helmets and then just buy one online

I took her to the store before posting the original thread. She found a design she liked, but the store said they didn't have it in her size.

I went to the new store again, and they finished unloading their trailer. Lo-and-behold, they had the exact helmet she wanted in her size. I got her a HJC CL-15 Cyclone in Red/White. Picked up the helmet and a cargo net for $82 total.

Here's pic of what it looks like...

That's a decent helmet. I've taken some brutal head shots motocrossing with the HJC's good protection for the money. One actually broke my chest protector and tore off my visor, I called it quits.
