Fab new helmet

I've just had a really beautiful helmet for Christmas. It's a bit more "girlie" than I'd usually go for (I've never been a fan of pink riding gear) but I think it's a really nice piece of kit.

In recent years I've tended to go for Arais as, although Shoeis are slightly more comfortable and "plush" to wear, I've found it impossible to get my glasses on inside most recent Shoei offerings, so I stopped even considering them.

Then I saw the XR1000 Fab at our local dealers. Here's a link to a rotatable image of it, though the website can't quite do justice to the "shot silk" paint effect, which means that the pattern changes colour from pink to green as you turn the helmet: Shoei XR1000 Fab

I decided to at least try it on, and found it to be considerably more comfortable than my current Arai. Shoei also seem to have changed their designs somewhat, as I have absolutely no problem getting my glasses on inside it.

So, that was one of my Christmas presents. Now I'm just waiting for some biking weather so that I can wear it!

But the purpose of this posting, in addition to showing off my gorgeous new helmet, is to flag up with any other glasses wearers, who might have given up on Shoei of late, due to problems getting their glasses on, to consider giving them another try when they come to buy their next new helmet.

That's not too pink. A lot of black so it evens out. Looks good.
I've liked all the Shoei's I've owned, good comfort & fit.
Started using ICON a couple years ago. Like them too.
I actually ended up getting smaller glasses to fit inside my helmets!

nice lid

my shoei is a little tight w/ glasses but i'll go to the trouble of carving a tunnel in the cheek pieces if needed...gotta have my specs

on my RF1000, the ventilation setup is such that it really requires your head to be tilted ala riding a sport replica, and the flow was noticeably less when riding in a more upright position, say like on a 919...not that you'd worry about such things any more

That thing is actually pretty cool, kinda like the bad girl biker look.

Fab new helmet, part II

My other half has been looking for a new helmet for a while, as his oldest one is now about five years old. He's been looking for an Arai or a Shoei that is comfortable and has a paint scheme that looks really special to him. Until this Saturday he had drawn a complete blank - plenty of good comfortable helmets around, but none with a paint scheme that had the wow factor for him. Then I spotted this one in our usual dealer (where I got my Fab helmet last Christmas). I just knew it would be the one for him, and I wasn't wrong. It's an XR-1000 again (I think it's called an RF-1000 in the USA). The scheme is called Diabolic Revelation, and it has a hologram effect on the top of the helmet, plus a stunning, if somewhat gothic, overall look. It's his birthday in about a month's time, so we've ordered him a nice new boxed one in his size. He's absolutely delighted with it. Again though, I don't believe that you get this paint scheme in the USA.

That is wicked cool! Fairies around the head and a scary fanged warning to tailgaters on the back!

Spoiler:
"The list is an absolute good. The list is life."

"What kind'a tires you runnin'?"
