Crap!

I have officially become "That guy"!

Some of you saw that I ordered a set of the Alpinestars Octane 2 piece leathers. Well, they arrived at the shop today, and I went down to check them out try them on, and pay. Seeing as how I will be at Deal's Gap this weekend, I was not going up there unprepared.

I walk in the shop, see my leathers hanging by the parts counter, and think, "man those look kind of small." On closer inspection, I realized they were about the correct size for an eight year old, or Jason DiSalvo; you pick. I wear a US46, they ordered a Euro 46 which equates to US36 chest & 30 pants.

So the shopowner, knowing about my weekend trip, makes me an offer I can't refuse. I drop my shoulders in disgust, as I am guilty as charged of picking on "those guys" at the track. Go ahead, get your laughs in now, but keep in mind that I walked out of the shop paying less than I was going to for the Astars suit by itself.

Spoiler:

Not only do I ride an Aprilia, I wear their gear.

You are a factory rider!?

Is it just me or does the padding look minimalistic on the hook? A lot of logo suits suffer from cutting corners. I'd reorder the AS in the right size... and take it easy this weekend wearing your old stuff.

Actually Dream, the armor is quite good in the Aprilia suits. Full CE armor in shoulders, back, and knees. Good hip protection with extra padding, and a removeable Knox back protector included. The suit is fully perf'd, but I will have to buy a jacket to wear for my daily riding now, as this is a one-piece suit.

The boots are Alpinestars SMX-4. Full leather, and well ventilated. I just applied some mink oil to soften them up a bit, and this weekend should have them wearing nicely.

Ridge, Thanks for the clarification! Those sound safe! Just stuff your work cloths in a tank bag, no need for another jacket. Otherwise you may be tempted not to wear your padded pants (ATGATT). The attention is fun walking around stores in a full leather suit. I also leave my smoked visor helmet on to enjoy their reaction.

First you have to pick up a suit with Triumph logo's all over it. Just joking Ridge, I think that suit is pretty sweet actually.

You're welcome anytime. I can't gaurantee lodging, but I may be sleeping in my truck. If you come, stop by and get sick boy, tell him to take a ton of meds, hop on the bike, and he won't remember a thing from the trip in. I plan on heading back home Sunday evening. We are staying in Fontana Village, and you have my cell.

don`t feel to bad i just bought a helmet ,just had to have a lid the weekend I got it so i could ride all i wanted was flat grey or flat black ,place didn`t have one to fit my dome so I ended up getting a good deal on one with skulls with blazings eyes all over it I think it makes me look faster though I mean with a helmet like that nobody will ever guess I am a new rider right.

To The Halls of Justice !!!

Dear Aprilla Man,
There is a new super hero in town.
Introducing Triumph man, for the summer of 2007.
This caped crusader completed his outfit today and is mis-shifting all over town with his super stiff new English/Austin power boots. So if you hear the awkward roar of a Triple,
know that trouble is near....

hehehehe, now you can get Mike to buy a matching outfit for your travels.

Smartass comments aside, I like Triumph's gear. They use some very reputable manufacturers, and seem to really concentrate on the quality and functionality. I'd like to hear how you like it in six months or a year.

Man those look good although a bit showy. Any one piece suit is going to look a bit like that guy anyway. Those Triumph leathers look really nice. I may check them out and I ride a Honda. We just got our first Aprilla dealer here in Saskatchawan and I was really impressed by the quality of all the parts on the bikes. I nearly totally blew my credit rating on one of those Vtwin supermotos.

You should wait on the SXV. If I remember, Aprilia is coming out w/ a rebate soon on all their models.

I almost bought a Honda riding Jacket. Almost being I just looked at it. Maybe there will be a comic book about you two. The Adventures of Aprilla Man and Triumph Boy. Sorry Simpson. Two mans just didn't sound right. Somebody had to be the boy and Aprilla Man was first.

Fought the rain a coupla days ago to go look at leathers up at Sportland 2.

They had a 1200.00 A-stars suit someone had ordered but in the wrong size.
The whole Euro spec thing got 'em.

But I got a chance to give it a good feeling up for quality. Maaaaaaan.

You could tumble in a trommel for hours and never get hurt in that thing.
Definitely worth saving for.
