Bought some A-stars today !

At the store I was able to compare the tourmaster road boot to the a-stars ridge. The ridge is more ski-boot-ish. And more well built. Gotta run to the pet store. Back inaminute.

Let's see. AH ! Boots. Right. The a-stars have more heel reinforcement and an almost ridgid sole which is ce. They also have a rubberized toe and use slightly thicker "leather". They come in half sizes. The tourmasters didn't.

Now the downs.

Thick toe difficult to get under shift lever. Ski-boot rigidity forces front cuff against my shins. (motorcycle socks ?) Slightly heavier than the t/m. Enough velcro that a rescue squad will need the jaws of life to get me out of them. And a chainsaw. And plasma cutter. $2.00 more than the t/m. big whoop.

For immediate comfort the t/ms' might have been better. They looked a little better too. For safety/durability, I bought the stars.

It's not that the tourmasters were bad. If I were riding an FJR, I might have bought them. They were higher on the shin and softer, too. Both are waterproof. Thus ends my assesment.

Those SMX-4 s look pretty good. nice tapered toe, not too much plastic. Had the shop had those, I would have tried them.

Nice. Very nice. It's raining and cold. Perfect time to get on my raingear and try my new boots and practice a little wet weather riding.
