Anyone have a KBC Helmet

I am looking into a KBC helmet. I wear a shark now and found a good deal on a KBC airborn. How are they for fit and quality?

Bewbies. That's the only relevant information I have.

I have a VR-2 helmet and love it! I prefer the inner lining to Arai's. I also know the company and have dealt with them personally - they offer great support. I say go for it.

If it is the same as my Force-RR was, be prepared for copious amounts of air from under the chin. My KBC was one of my most enjoyable helmets. I could see the air rush as being a problem only if you wear contacts while riding.

VR1 good but a bit noisy

Racer 1 very good and almost a copy of Arai RX7, but I still like my Arai best.

I suggest you read this article before buying a helmet. I know it is long but it is worth the time.

I have a KBC and I hate it. The foam on the forehead portion compresses after a very short period of time and puts tons of pressure on my head. I have the mid level KBC, so the higher level one may be better. Buyer beware.

I have a relationship with KBC. Email me your issues, I am sure they would like to know about this. And... I will see what I can do to help you. If you decide to get like a VR-2, please let me know as well.

Michael.

They don't fit my noggin, but the one we got for my wife seems to be a good lid. Fit and finish are decent, and she hasn't had any issues with it.

pilotguy, don't confuse headshape issues with manufacturers defects as they don't go together but I can see where you think it is KBC's fault... you were not taught properly by your salesman when you purchased your helmet or you went ahead and bought it online sight unseen w/o researching the helmet first. It has happened to all of us.

WIM, unless KBC makes two different molds (just like Arai does), there is not much they will be able to do for him. Haven't spoken to the KBC rep in a long time so I don't know if they do at this juncture or not.

I can't wear Shoei Helmets and I couldn't fit inside my KBC VR-2 Repsol Replica helmet and I ended up selling it because of it.

Actually the helmet fit great the first year, but the foam ended up compacting on the forehead section and subsequently put a ton of pressure on it. So now I walk around with a stupid red mark whenever I ride. I'm going to try to do some foam grafting this winter to see if it improves. If it weren't for the foam going flat on me, I'd love the helmet.

How about asking KBC for a replacement? I am sure they would help with that.

Worth a shot, frankly I haven't given the helmet a ton of thought since the summer, being snowed in up here in Canada. Has anyone had positive customer service experience with KBC?

Despite the foam issue, I'm not completely turned off KBC, in fact I've been eyeing the VR-2. I hate HJC stuff, and Shoei and Arai are obviously a little out of my price range.

The VR2 is compact, comfortable, lightweight, and good-looking. I've had no quality problems except that I despise the visor change mechanism. It kinda makes me want to throw visors across the room. I believe I've had my current VR2 for a couple years.

I read an article about KBC a while back in a magazine. Apparently a couple years ago they moved the entire operation from Korea to China. I read they had some quality control issues at first, but that was some time ago and from what I read recently they get great reviews. I say go for it. Thats a cool one you picked too...

I emailed you back. I will be at KBC tomorrow... see if you can send me a note or call me.

Check your PM.

I went to Cyclegear here in Raleigh and tried on a VR-2. I really like that helmet, very comfortable and lightweight compared to the piece of junk that I have. I like the Matte Black or Gunmetal. Matte Black was $219.00 and the Gunmetal was $199.00 at Cyclegear. I just found them online at www.helmetcity.com for $184.99 and $179.99 respectively. That is with free 2-day shipping. Anyone know of a place where I could get a better price? If not I will probably order from them.

Does Cyclegear price match??? If they do, just print off a form showing those lower prices and go support your local business, this will insure they will continue to have helmets for you to try on in the future, also you have somewhere to go if there is problems. My $.02.

I have a KBC TK-9. Most of the reviews I read weren't good at all, but it's just fine for me. Everyone's head is different, so just go to a store and try them all on.

I crashed one and I'm as normal now as I was before. (in advance) I highsided and came down head first. I did have a concussion but I'm prone to them because I've had a few before. The edge of the helmet did break my collarbone but that would have happened with any helmet.

I have a VR-2 as my "junk" helmet, to go to the gym in and stink it up. I found it to be pretty cheap quality, chips easy, but hey it cost $160.

On the plus side, it has a cool shape and cuts through the wind pretty good.
