Anybody Have This One?

I am thinking about getting the HJC CL-SP Raven helmet come springtime. I found one at my local stealership and love the way it feels, looks, and fits. I also plan on replacing my current riding jacket with this one: http://www.ridegear.com/rg/item/F-42...r_Jacket_.html, except in the same color scheme at the helmet. I was wondering if anyone already has this helmet, and how they like it, how it feels while riding, any gripes, raves, etc... Here is a link to the helmet as advertised on www.ridegear.com.

http://www.ridegear.com/rg/item/F-26..._Helmets_.html

The stealership had it advertised at $185, Ride Gear has it advertised at about $165, and I found it on eGay for around $120 after shipping.

Thoughts? TIA.

Thanks Ken! I'll have to check out the eBay thing when I get home. Can't get to it from work anymore. Internet filters are stupid.

I say for $300+ that you'd spend on that jacket, you could get something better.

For the most part I think most helmets are close to the same as far as protection goes(obviously some suck and some are more protective), overall though. That aside, with a cheaper helmet like that it will be: heavier, louder, have a less comforable lining, have poorer venting, and yeah maybe less safe(?). Maybe not by a landslide, but less so than a better engineered helmet.

If you are going to ride a lot you might want to invest a little more in a more comfortable brain bucket. My opinion.

Well, I put the new one on, and it fits better than my current lid, which is made by HJC also (HJC CL-12 I think), but is older and is WAY more comfortable. My current one is too tight, which may or may not explain why I am the way I am, but that's neither here nor there. Mine is loud at speed, doesn't seal very well in rain and fogs easily, and the vents do little to nothing, not to mention I think it is awfully heavy compared to other lids. It does having some kick arse cheek pads, but that's about all it has going for it. The top of the head padding is almost nonexistant and hurts my head after a while. I was just wondering if anyone had any on the road experience with this helmet or one similar to it (another CL-SP).

Oh, and as far as the jacket goes, the reasoning behind that is, that I tried one of those on also, and it fit great, and IMO, looks great too. Plus, the gunmetal color scheme on the jacket almost matches the helmet exactely. I might ditch the leather and go for the textile (not mesh) one instead though, haven't decided yet.

Inflation strikes WT I agree with ragdoll though...I have a perforated leather for days over 80 and solid leather for everything else. I have a textile jacket but it doesn't get much use.

I agree with both prior comments - go with leather.

Your search is over.

You don't even need a helmet, it comes with a matching hat.

Perhaps this is more your style, plus it's leather for better protection...

Nice, but does it have the armor in the shoulders and elbows? What about spine protection? Nice price though!

Snik: I did. Great prices on what look to be great helmets, but I'm just not diggin the colors. The red one looks good, but it would look silly with my gunmetal grey jacket and candy blue bike. Thanks a for lookin out for me though.

Everyone else: Thanks for the links. Including those who sent me links to some of the most gay/hideous jackets I think I have ever seen.
