Yet Another New 919 Owner

yan9o?

Hi all, this post is mostly content-free but the banner atop the forums has been urging me to post something since I joined.

I picked up a 2003 919 in late September off of Craigslist. It may have seemed like a foolish decision to some of my friends with inevitable the approach of winter and all. Overall I am extremely happy with this bike. Sure it's not 900RR fast but it's damn comfortable and peppy enough to keep me smiling.

I'd post pics but you already know what this bike looks like and I've now got it torn apart for repainting this winter. I'm hoping to get a few other minor mods taken care too: bars/grips, footpegs, Buell dual HL/windscren. I love the look of the USD forks some people have put together but I don't think I can justify the cost of that project.

A neighbor! Welcome to WT, jscott! I see you are in Rochester. I'm in Penfield! The Internet continues to make the world a smaller place

Congrats on the 919! You've found the right place for 919 information and owners. But there are riders of many different bikes here as well. I was drawn here when I owned a 919, now have a 1250 Bandit, but still hang here since I think it's about the best riding site out there! Great place, great people, great resource. Pull up a chair and stick around.

And maybe we can get out for a ride together in the Spring!

The bike came with an asphalt tank and smoke tail/fender as the result of a minor lowside. There are a few random grey/silver pieces too. I'm blacking-out everything, save for the engine, with the factory asphalt (hopefully). I don't care for shiny bits, so I'll probably wrap the exhaust with black too.

And even a tiny amount smaller, I work in Fairport. A ride would be great! Although I've been on two for a few years [mostly commuting] I still don't know many fun places to ride save for the lake shore and the Southern Tier. We've got a while to sit here twiddling our thumbs while we keep warm.

Not to worry. I've been riding the area for years and have tons of great routes -- technical and scenic -- that I'd be glad to share, and a summer home on Keuka Lake that makes for a great pit stop while riding the Finger Lakes region.

And from your sig, it looks like you are a Linux man as well. We may have much in common!

Welcome Jscott! I lived in Rochester for many years. Attended RIT then worked for Kodak at Elmgrove before they closed shop. Finger lakes are a blast to ride around. Post some pics. Enjoy the site.
