Whats Good?

I just bought a 2002 919 with 150 miles. A couple different places pointed me here for 919s. I bought it to replace an absolutely haggered Ducati Monster 900 that I bought last season. I've only ridden the bike on a quick test ride yesterday, but the bike seems to be much more comfortable and fast than the duke. I'm looking forward to putting some miles on this bike.

Hey Chucky !! I hope you're as enthused about your 919 as I am about mine. I've noticed a lack of interest within this community and it needs a couple of new 919 owners to revive it back to life !! I've had my '07 for a week and a half now and love it. I've eyed the bike for two years without ever pulling the plug. My previous bike was a 96 cb750 Nighthawk - my very 1st motorcycle. Pretty peppy bike it was, but I wanted fuel injection, and a six speed gear box. The 919 fit the bill- they're both similar looking bikes- and Honda could've named it the third gen nighthawk had they compared the two. Both naked, in-line four, dual exhaust, single round headlight... When my 07 candy red 919 popped up on c list I had to jump !!

Welcome to the forum. While it is fairly quiet, there is still interest and an absolute ton of info. Decent classified section too.

Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game.

Funny story about finding it. Me and two of my friends were going to look at a BMW 330CI down in CT, and I had found a 03 VFR near the BMW. Off we go taking my pickup when my friend looking at the BMW gets a text saying the BMW isn't fixed so its not ready for sale yet. Since the VFR was only an hour and a half away, we headed out anyways. Got to the VFR (After driving through the parking lot full of cool oddball JDM cars) and it was a wreck, was told it needed tires and a chain, not that it had been stored outdoors for years and doesn't start. Passed on it and headed over to check out a SV650 a half hour west, as were heading over my friend hops on CL and find the listing for the 919 with 150. We assumed it was a typo, and it had 1500 or 15000, but since he worked at a Honda dealer, knew they were cool bikes so he emails the guy. He responds while were still driving that it's not a typo, but has someone coming to look at it, but he will keep us informed. get to the SV, take it for a spin around the block, i like it, but it's cheap feeling. We explain the CB situation to the owner of the SV who completely understands, and lets us get food while waiting for the CB guy to get back to us. While eating pizza (Because all the best things happen while eating pizza) the CB guy texts my friend, and says head over, and the rest is magic. He wanted 4K, I asked how firm he was on that, he asked how much I had, and took the 3500 I had on me. All I've done today since I got it was buy a new rear stand for it since I don't want to weld on or drill and tap for spools and hooked up a battery tender for it.

I smoke my last cigarette and swear to god it's been fun.

I would stick with the Honda oil. That said, there will be 15000 different posts with different recommendation.

Nice find! Change the tires, too! They're probably hard as a rock and dangerous!

+1!! Yes, please only use the Honda genuine 10w-40. Ask your local power sports dealer for a discount if you bought a case of gallons. Ours hooks it up a bit.
