Stoked! Newly Acquired 919

Hey there all you 919 owners. I just purchased a new (for me), slightly used (2400 miles) '06 candy red machine, my favorit color! I've been checking out yer posts for valuable info. I've lusted after this machine for years & years but, except for the '03 uranium green, I haven't been wild about Honda's color choices Then came the candy red for both '06 & '07. I had the cash, saw the bike on Boston Craig's list & the rest is history. Bummer about the '07 end of the line. I'm used to acquiring short production machines. My previous ride was (& still is) a '94 CB1000. Sweet bike but heavy & not alot of horsepower but it's very stable & I'm a sentimental guy.

Anybody know where I can get a sargent seat for the 919? DAS

Welcome to the hive! A few guys here have sargeant seats. I think you just contact them directly and you have to send them your seat. Not sure how long it takes. Someone should chime in.

Welcome, Even though 07 is the end of the line for the current 919 they didnt change much over the years and have great parts interchangeability. Never really thought the 9er was that heavy or short on power though, course I went from a Harley to my 919, before I got my 954 and another hog.

Hey Sugs, gettin' fairly warm in San Diego I hear. When you say contact them directly do you know who I would contact. I haven't been able to locate any sargent website, only online stores that sell premade saddles for model specific bikes. Thanks. DAS

Be sure to read our 919 Helpful Topics thread. If you can score a stock seat form eBay, send it to Sargent otherwise send yours when you can live without riding for a few weeks. Sargent had a end of the season discount last fall, maybe they will offer it again this year. Give them a call, ask for Rudy.

Welcome aboard.

I've got a seargent and still have my orginal seat which I might be able to be talked out of for a resonable price so there wouldn't be any downtime, might even consider selling the seargent?

Love the seat, but it's a little slippery for me.
(Premium foam and one of the more expensive coverings, orginally Kens from here as well as half my other stuff )

Thanks fer all the advice guys. I've already checked out MisterMike's useful advice & I'll do my best. I'm probably gonna have to send the seat in during the cold (hopefully) New England winter-I'm not hard core enough to ride through snow & ice. I've checked ebay, boston craigslist, etc. fer a 2nd 919 seat & nadda. I don't wanna muscle in on brevity's deal fer cpg74's stocker. Anybody else got a seat to spare? Ron Ayers (the cheapest source of parts that I've found) wants $171.33 for a seat assembly. DAS

Welcome Dog, I hope you keep the "Big One"~CB1000. They were neat BIG bikes. Comparing the 919 and Big One is like one brother that snacks all day, and the other brother works out and watches his weight. Same family just different traits.

Thanks brokeRecord. At first I thought for sure I'd let the CB go but then I got to thinking about all we'd been through together (it was my 1st & only brand new bike) & how it was such a rare machine these days & how I really wouldn't be able to sell it for what it was worth for purely sentimental reasons. The thing was kickin' my ass last summer w/some major carburetor issues that I finally figured out (factory set pilot screws were all tweeked). Anyway, I took it for a late night spin around the reservoir & thought 'I love this bike' so I'm not selling it. I've got the space in my garage & she's kinda like the 919's grandmother. Besides, red & black's my favorit color scheme (Richard Thompson more or less). DAS

cpg if you are interested in selling the sargent, I am interested in buying it.
I have an extra stock seat, and was going to take it to sellerie europeen this winter, but if you sell me the sargent, I can sell my extra seat to smithdog.
(sellerie europeen is a local custom seat maker that makes your seat to measure. he is very famous here.)
