Room for another newbie?

I figured I have been lurking this site long enough and thought I'd say, "hey". Since I feel I know some of you through your posts, I'll give a nickles worth of me as an introduciton. I've been riding for 30 yrs on one form of bike or another. (Yes, I saw the over 30/40 thread and I turned 40...err 20x2 this year). I raced semi-professionally (MX) for three years over 20 years ago. I have owned too many MX bikes to count as well as Ninjas and other semi sport bikes. (40K+ on road) My first street bike was a new '82 KZ 550, which is probably why I fell in love with the 919. On impulse, I just bought an '06 919 a couple of months ago and am lovin it. This forum has been a great place for info. So far I have only added the c-werks fender kit and replaced the front signals with Lockhart Phillips shorties. I will likely go for the Sato carbon cans, PCIII and some new mirrors next. Thanks for the new picture thread as well!!

Welcome! Glad you turned from lurker to poster!

How do you like the look and quality of the LP shorty front signals? Was the install clean or is their some modification necessary>

Thanks for the welcome!

Ken, I really like the look of the LP signals but they do not install as fast as they look. The stock units have two posts at the base, one for the wires and one for the thread/nut. The LP only has one with the wires coming through the threaded stalk. This means you can not get a socket on it to tighten it causing you to completely disassemble the entire signal, bolt it on and then re-assemble. Not too bad except the nut is a 9/16 and the socket will not fit into the hole on the back of the place where the signal mounts. Nothing that 20 min with the Dremel didn't cure. I'll try and post a few pics later.
