Picking up my 919 in the morning.

Just wanted to pop in and say hey. I live north of Charlotte, NC in a very small town called Faith. I pick up my new 919 in the morning. Rode one for the first time yesterday. What a hoot. I've been looking at them for a while and decided to pull the trigger.

I always enjoy a good forum for info on whatever I am messing with. I tend to lurk a lot and post very little. Looks like some good info here.

Welcome radioguy ... sorry to hear about your 919 decision.

Thanks for the welcome folks. I appreciate it. I had trouble sleeping last night... as you can probably tell by the time of my original post... 4:38am.

Dealership opened at 9 and I am waiting on my wife to get ready so we can go get it. I'm pacing the floor. The weather is supposed to be perfect here today. I can almost feel the wind in my face already... and I already have a smile. I suspect that won't go away for the next several days.

Doug,
I am getting my 919 this morning also.

Its a 2007, with 2,500 miles on it. The weather today is good, so you know I'll be out riding!

I have a friend at work who races, and he also helps out with teaching on track days for new guys. Even though I am not terribly interested in racing, I'll be taking him up on his offer to get some instruction and track time. Keeping it rubber-side-down is important.

Welcome to the forum. Ride safe! Where in Central Texas are you TexasTraffic. I'm in Killeen and scgstuff lives in Copperas Cove both minutes from Fort Hood. If you're near maybe we can get together for a ride. Scgstuff and I rode last weekend, I have a 919 and he has a Speed Triple.

I picked up the 919 today.
The first thing I did was put the OEM bars back on. The bars that were installed were too low for this old cranky bastich. I liked the bar-end mirrors, though they don't fit so well on the stick bars.
The stock mufflers have been de-baffled. Sounds very nice, though its a bit louder than I prefer.

What a bike! This 919 feels good.

Smitty - I live in NW Austin, in the Cedar Park area. There's not much around here in the way of twisties... Probably the best road I know if is 1431 to Marble Falls. Lime Creek road is a short road with some nice hairpins, though traffic is a concern.

Okay, day one in the books. It's ALL good. I'm about to head out to the garage one more time before I go to bed... you know... just to check on the bike. LOL

I took my wife for a ride this afternoon. We had a great time. I rode with a guy who works for me a little this morning. He has a Suzuki M50. We turned a corner and I got on it just a little. At the next light he said, "You weren't even trying to leave me, were you?" I told him that I had barely cracked the throttle. What a rush.

I moved here from Arlington, Texas about two years ago. I would never have owned a bike in the city... too many idiots on the road. Here in North Carolina it's a different story. Every road that leads away from my house is a twisty two lane road. Makes riding to work a lot of fun.

This is the first street bike I have ever owned. So far I am extremely happy with it. Now... how do I make that exhaust a little louder? LOL

Welcome, Doug, and congrats on the new bike!

I'm right down 85 from you, not too far from the Speedway. I visit your neck of the woods for BBQ at Gary's.

Kristen, are you talking Gary's over on 29 in China Grove? I think I've been there.

I work down in Concord off Poplar Tent... real close to the speedway. Very cool. Good to see other folks on here from nearby.

Took my kids for a ride today. And now they have smiles on their faces too.
