'nother newbie 919'er

Hey all,

Newly licensed rider from the Denver, CO area. I found out about this forum from the Yahoo! hornet900 group, and I wanted to stop in and say "hi".

I'm a 36 y/o husband and father. I found out the hard way that it's a good idea to buy your toys BEFORE getting married, because your spouse may not place a bike as high on the family financial priorities list as you do. As it happens though, recent gas prices helped my cause considerably.

I took the MSF class a few weeks ago, and started shopping around for the right bike. I was thinking along the lines of a 750 Nighthawk, but it turns out my height (6'4") made that a less-than-ideally comfortable choice. I went by the local dealership to just sit on a few to see what felt right. I was almost decided on an 1100 Shadow Aero or Saber, when the salesman brought up the 919. I found that the further-back foot pegs with the more upright sitting position worked perfectly for me.

So, here I am with a nice shiny (well, except for a few dings) new-to-me 2004 Honda 919 with 6200 miles on it, and I'm lovin' it! I know I'm not using it to anywhere close to its capabilities yet, and probably won't ever need quite as much bike as I now owh, but there ya' go. Plenty of power, PLUS I get to say I have a naked bike

Jonathan

Welcome aboard and good luck with the new bike!

Wow, Westminster huh? I have a lot of family in Colorado in the Springs and Denver area. I used to live in Monte Vista in the San Louis Valley. I sure do miss it.

Hey! Are you my brother ? Ex-Aurorian, here. Now in Harleytown U.S.A. or close to it, anyway. I came off a 750 nightie after my MSF and bought a new
919. I'm only 6-1 though. I think the nightie fit me better. My niner gives me a bit of knee pain and the throttle is ultra twitchy. It's got nuggets though!
Enjoy the forum !

No you're not my brother
