Smile Not quite so old guy

50 in a month or two - fair amount of tread left.

I just bought a new 2007 919 yesterday, from Ride Motorsports outside of Seattle:

Honda 2007 919 (CB900F)

... with freight/PDI + the insane WA sales tax, that was 7400 OTD, and because I bought it new, the Federal Government will actually give me back the sales tax for buying a new vehicle this year. That knocks it down to 6700 OTD. I know I feel stimulated. Yay, America!

One thing I've found is that what's on a dealer's website doesn't necessarily have much to do with what they've got in stock. I walked in the door, saw a new 919, and figured it was the one on their site (since it was the only one on their site). "No", I was told, "that one's $6999. The one that's $5999 is upstairs, and it's cheaper because it's a California emissions model."

That's when I came to this site, and it looks like the only difference for a California model is the evap canister, and I can remove that if I ever feel like installing a center stand. So why $1000 cheaper? Who knows?

Anyway, it was love at first ride. Now I have to go search for twisties.

That federal sales tax rebate has me squirming as well.. Looking for a new car..

Get your riding in now as the snow will be here in a few months, then it gets a little difficult to see.

Safe riding!

Absolutely I got the Cali one, once I read here that the only difference was the evap canister, and that's easily removable.

I figure they got a ton of Cali 919's in and this is their way of selling them. When they're gone, maybe then they'll find some home for the last one for $1K more.

Thanks!

I'd driven the new bike off without even bothering to look at the tires (like an idiot), then read on this forum about 2007 bikes with early 2005 tires on them.

I'm lucky. Both tires (Hi Sports) say "3906", so the 39th week of 2006. They're sticky enough and will last me a year.

I found some twisties, and no surprise that I have to go well outside of the city to get to them. In the meantime, I'm re-learning the basic city riding skill: assume all the cagers are working together for the sole purpose of killing me.

I'm one year older, live in the Las Vegas metro area, and did the same thing a week ago: 7443.00 OTD on an '07 including all taxes, prep, etc. What a nice bike we have, at a decent price to boot!

My question is: is it really a tax credit, and not just a deduction? Credit would be much better!

Here's the thing: that's not clear! The shop definitely represented it as a rebate; that is, I could simply deduct it from my tax bill, and it would be like the sales tax hadn't happened.

But I was so baffled by the fact that nobody'd bothered to mention this incredibly good deal before that I did some googling, and I've seen it both ways.

Right now, I'm assuming it's just a deduction off my income. That is, I'll get a percentage of the ~$700, according to my tax bracket, rather than the whole thing. When the time comes next spring, I'll ask my tax preparer. As it is, I can't blame the shop for misrepresenting, because (a) I'm sure they're not sure, either, and (b) I'd already bought the thing when they told me.

Also, the deduction starts to cut out over $120K/yr income, and by $135K/yr, it's gone, so if you're lucky enough to make that much money, you'll have to look to short Jessica Alba video clips for your stimulation.

Welcome ! Nice bike ! Maybe I can get one ! j/k
I got 2 Honda MC dealers (DFW vs Dallas) into a bidding war for my business as it was slow a few months back...I kinda figured that....
Dallas dealer finally just wanted to unload inventory and sold me 2007 919 for $6732 OTD.
It wasn't until I got it home that I realized it was a Califubarred model.
They too have too many CA bikes on hand.
I don't know why they had CA versions in Texas.
At some point, the inventory will dry up (fairly soon).

I took the canister off, rerouted one line back to where it came from.
Removed PAIR system (instructions on this site) and installed block off plates from SEMI-GRAY. (THANK YOU SEMI_GRAY !!!!!!)
Put on Motech centerstand. F-16 National Cycle Touring/Tall screen.
New Metzeler leftover Sportec M1 and M3 to replace older adn older-tech Michelins.
Now I have a perfect UJM !

BTW...we may have contributed to the possibility of USA getting a CB1100 for 2010.
Inventory reduction will result in pent-up demand and Honda knows this.
Amazingly, just about he time your CB900F7 is broken in...there should be a new model in dealers stores. Honda MC sales were up 8.5% from last year. Cars may be hurting, Worldwide MC sales aren't.

Have Fun ! Be safe !
