noobie from Baltimore

My name is Ray and I just bought a 919. Its an 06 with about 6K miles. Appears to have the original tires and battery. Just bought a new battery and will be mounting tires this weekend. Hopefully the snow we are getting currently doesn't last long and I can get in my 1st ride. Looking forward to picking up some helpful information.

Hello and welcome! Looks like a really nice one; OEM windscreen, new bars, bar end mirrors, and some frame sliders. Got to say I'm quite jealous because that's the look I'm going for. Congrats!

Welcome from a prior 919 owner from Cumberland! Sold mine to a guy down your way. We should meet up this summer for a ride.

Thanks for the warm welcomes.

The tires are the stock Bridgestone model (BT56?) so I assume they are original. The center of the rear is flat, at least 2 inches wide. I guess I could confirm by looking for a date code. I planned on buying new tires regardless.

I think they are the stock bars, narrow and pulled back. I'm planning on replacing the bars with something wider and maybe taller. Seems like Renthal bars are a popular upgrade. I'm not a fan of the bar end mirrors. I'd like to find OEM mirrors and bar ends.

The bars are a very popular upgrade with riders on here. Most have gone with the either the Renthal Lows or the Ultra Lows. I put on the Road Highs to add height and width while reducing pullback. I can send you some pictures this weekend if you'd like.

Regarding the OEM mirrors, I found that I had trouble seeing around my shoulders and torso. I believe others have put on Aprilia mirrors and had good success with visibility.

Renthal Ultra Lows were one of the best mods I've ever done to any car or bike.

Cheap and awesome!

Where are you located? I'm near Ft Meade.

Jeffie7, I live in Pikesville (just inside the beltway from 795) and I work in Annapolis. Not the best commuting route so I'll mainly be riding on weekends.

just an FYI, The Annapolis area and south from there has some AWESOME riding roads.

Doesn't help you if you work when in this area but if you ever have an early day I highly recommend you check them out.

I work just outside of Annapolis. Where do you work in Annapolis? Need anything catered? lol I'm in the restaurant business.

Welcome to the forum and to the 919 family. I vouch for the southern roads: jeffie took me and a friend of mine for a ~4h ride and it was awesome. I knew some of the roads but not all. BTW, I have Renthal highs on mine.

Hello from Dallas. I'm a former 919 owner that used to live in Harford County, MD.

Get out near Bel Air, Jacksonville, Darlington ~ I would give a kidney for roads like that in DFW!

Dave W. I've ridden those roads many times. Within 2 miles of leaving home I can be outside the beltway north of town on country roads. One of my typical destinations in the Union Hotel, I also have an old Harley although I do not own any Harley apparel. I'm from York and lived there during the AMF days, therefore I'm a fan of the old Shovelheads.

Jeffie7 I work just north of the mall close to the bowling alley. I have a project currently at the Calvert County landfill. Might give me an excuse to ride to the job site. I'll likely be spending some time down there this summer as the project proceeds.

Again thanks for the warm welcomes.
