New (to me) 919 owner, new to forum

This is the forum where it seems there is a ton of 919 commentary, so I figured I'd join to learn and see whats up.

Thank you all for having me.

I like the bike. I like the broad powerband, generous clutch friction zone, and it handles really light on its feet for how heavy it is. Good around town bike. Was debating between this and an RF900 and this being injected and not having fairings in the way of things like oil changes and CCTs cinched it.

02 black one. I’ll get pics eventually. It was from Ventura, maybe the previous owner was a forum member? Yes it stinks. Riding around town it always smells like it’s running rich and burning a teeny tiny bit of oil. When I was a kid my dad had a 750 Nighthawk, this bike sounds and smells a lot like it. I’ve thought about replacing the Honda wings on the tank with the old colorful Nighthawk wings.

Stock other than flyscreen and fender eliminator.

I’ll keep the stock pipes as I’m not interested in attracting attention from cops or robbers. 2 sides of the same coin. If this turned into some kind of dedicated track bike, I could see myself changing my mind.

The fender eliminator is ridiculous in that it uses the brake bulbs as signals, so are drivers behind me expected to know I’m signaling and not just that my brake light is messed up? Got signals coming in the mail. Will look into fabbing some kind of signal extenders out of maybe square tube and bolted to license plate bracket?

Had a DR650 that I got rid of 3 years ago. Had a Superhawk I got rid of 10 years ago. I liked the style of power the Superhawk had. Grew up riding different dirt bikes. Was never especially fast but liked sliding the back end out of corners.

First bike I’ve had in a while. I like it. Rode a friends 1200 Bandit a long time ago and this is like a 3/4 scale Bandit. Haven’t wrung it out yet, but it seems to handle really well for how heavy it is... Is it the R6 my brother had? No, but I think I could learn to make it hustle OK.

I’d like to eventually sign up for a Keith Code class and do a couple track days a year.

I’d like to transition myself to the type of rider that spends more time/money on lessons/track days than things like pipes or what not.
