Smile New this week:02 919

Had been looking for a used 599 for about a year on craigslist, but near impossible to find, & go for about the same price or more than the 919's. Had a Yamaha FZ1 before this, loved it, but frankly, i couldn't resist using the power, so I sold it to buy something less powerful(wanted around 90-100 horsepower, instead of 130 plus).
Saw this 919 for $2300, so couldn't pass it up. Near excellent overall cond,26,000 miles, 2 older adult owners, a "stack" of reciepts from Honda dealer services, & a few very light scuffs, stock exhaust(I like the quiet). I love the smooth powerband, the way it fits me(5'8" 155 lbs), & not "crazy power". The only thing I notice is a vibration around 4500-5000 rpms through the footpegs mostly; I see most people here talk more about it through the handlebars. Already got sliders
from oesaccessories for about $40 and a National Cycle F-16 "short" windscreen(we'll see how that looks; may leave it off).
I need a couple of things to make it perfect: the left side "big" heatshield for exhaust, guage cluster "black plastic" housing, the chrome headlight ring, left mirror, & 2 front turn signals(lenses only would probably be ok).
Looks like a buncha great guys here, just like the FZ1 site.

First, congratulations on your find. I had similar find when I first started looking. At first I wasn't sure what I was looking for, but when my friend mentioned the 919, and I found an '04 with 16k on it and in the right price range for me, I pulled the trigger and got my first motorcycle. This is my second season with the 9'er, and I just made a bunch of mods to it, since I wasn't sure if I was going to keep it.

So, I have the front turn signal lenses (pair) for $5 and both mirrors (pair) $25 plus shipping. Let me know if you are interested.

A 100hp bike will also get you into trouble quickly, for that matter so will a 50hp bike. Best advise is to restrain the right hand Good bunch of people on the FZ1 board, I am a long time member over there. Have you posted a thread about selling the FZ1 in favor of a 919? If not, do so and watch the fun begin. Stir the pot.

Be sure to read the 919 Helpful Topics in the Naked bike forum. Lots of good info.

Welcome
